Paul Childerley is on a three-day pest control job in Portugal, shooting wild boar or ‘javali’. It’s a driven hunt to bring down pressure by boar on farmland, organised by Sergio Couto.

Why shoot wild boar?
Most of continental Europe has a wild boar problem. There are millions of animals causing possibly billions of euros of damage to farmland. Happily, there is a control system, based on sport hunting. In some countries, where sport hunters do not manage numbers effectively, they have to pay reparations to farmers.
Wild boar are omnivorous and approximately 400 species of plants and animals have been reported to be part of their diet. Their habit of rooting through the floor of woodland and pasture leaves a clear indicator of their presence. They take both eggs and nestlings of ground-nesting birds. Damage to agriculture can also be extensive and concerns have been raised regarding collisions with traffic. Boar have no natural predators apart from small populations of wolves, meaning culls are necessary to control population growth.
Wild boar are susceptible to the same diseases as domestic pigs and therefore have the potential to spread infectious disease such as swine fever, foot & mouth and Aujesky’s disease.
We’re proud to promote enjoyment of fieldsports and the countryside. There are three guiding principles to everything we do on Fieldsports Channel:
▶ Shoot responsibly
▶ Respect the quarry
▶ Ensure a humane, clean and quick kill

I'm honored that the best hunting channel in KZfaq came to my country and experience our humble way of hunting. Montaria is a very awesome way of hunting and socialize with a lot of people. If you have the opportunity of experience the beaters job without a gun, only a knife you will be addicted. Only one advice choose a mor impact caliber or bullet because that is the reason of way that boar didn't die instantly. Cheers from portugal

Shooting a rifle without ear protection is not a good idea.. shooting a rifle with a muzzlebrake on without ear protection is painful and will damage your hearing for sure.. br Pete

Interesting video and very good hunt, but I do reckon that 6,5 Creedmoor is no driven hunt caliber, not enough lead, not enough power, and energy especially for wild boars being chased by dogs !

I had a similar thought. While pigs aren't large they are tough and I'd choose a heavy slow bullet over a faster smaller round. And at those ranges a 30-30 would suffice or preferably .338 federal

@@Magnum_Express thats just theoretical critics. You never tried such very fast (and so very energyloaded) bullets in reality. Because they work as long as you dont use the cheapest bullet. And they work very well.

@@frechwieoskar8052 actually I hunt with a .300 win mag and have shot animals with fast bullets. Faster than creedmore owners could ever hope for. And after seeing results on game I fully advocate heavy bullets for thick hided, tough muscle game even as small as feral hogs.

Well... Congratz. Since I saw your Aimpoint mounted on the gun closer to your face or eye, I talked to myself that I really have to comment that.. At the end, it seems you figured out that it's really bad idea by yourself or with help of your friends, as the last shot you made was with correctly mounted sight. What about that 6,5 Creedmoor? In case the hit is anywhere else than head or center of the shoulder.. Did not look good at all. Greatings from Czech Republic.
