The more sedans that disappear from the market, the more I appreciate the ES.
@COMMANDERFOX31
@COMMANDERFOX31 10 ай бұрын
Sedans will never go anywhere. Yes, there have been more SUV purchases in the last decade but the popular sedans like the Camry, Corolla, Civic, ES/IS, Mazda 3, Elantra, etc. have all seen big sale numbers over the last few years because they are after all cheaper and more efficient. In this economy, not everyone wants a giant lifted vehicle that hogs 20mpg just to get to a local Walmart.

I actually really appreciate the USB-C ports. For a car that is almost certainly going to be drive for the next decade by most owners, it's much more future-proofed than having a bunch of USB-A ports everywhere. If I just wanted a car to get from point A to point B comfortably and reliably with some luxuries over like, an accord, this would be my car. I love the ES and I've always also loved the exterior design. Quite a handsome vehicle IMO

I did a 450 mile road trip in my 2023 ES 300h a couple days ago, it was fantastic, and I had almost a half tank of fuel left :O The mpg was slowly increasing the entire way, ending at a crazy 58mpg, going 68 miles an hour, with AC on, in normal driving mode. At first I thought the computer must have gotten it wrong, so I did the math myself and yep, 450 miles, just over half a tank does ball park 58mpg! The lane tracing is dependent on how good the lines on the road are, if the lines are good then it doesn't flinch, but if the lines are degraded then it can freak out occasionally.

Same as you, I almost immediately got into a wrestling match with the lane assist as well and described it to a friend the same way you did. It was a very forceful and almost ripped the wheel out of my hands. That was that...Turned it off and never thought about it again. Otherwise the car is fabulous. I use android auto and it is perfect. Soon as I start up my phone connects and goes to the screen. I use voice Control to do everything. So happy I chose this car. My poor highlander is pretty lonely these days unless I need it for hauling stuff or going biking etc. 42 mpg since I got it doing everything including putting it into sport mode and driving fast for a bit to see how it handled it.

My first drive home was an 8 hour trip from Los Angeles to the Bay Area, and I was more than comfy. This car just floats :). Agree with everything you mentioned. My real world MPG is more like 42.2, not babying it at all. To the point you made about eco mode only affecting throttle response, I believe does use the air con more efficiently too, so probably saves a tiny bit on fuel
@BartoszRybacki0
@BartoszRybacki0 7 ай бұрын
in Camry it also affects the air con and Active Glide Control, and engine braking, this is what I noticed during my road trips, So I use normal for city, econ for highway, I do not like sport, because it tries to rev engine with every tiny foot move on accelerator pedal and makes it louder ;) And acceleration is the same with eco vs sport if you press the pedal to the metal, and this is my preferred way to accelerate with Camry.

truth is, this is the w123 2.0 not sure why they insist on the f-sport trim with this model. it should only focused on comfort. 11:03 - a clock that's automatically adjusted using the car's GPS module (just like the GS450h)? atomic clock precision anywhere on the globe, independent of the network coverage.

Agree with the W123 comparison, and the ES Hybrid fills the role of the old MB diesels which are long gone in the US.

Great car. Would you recommend it over a 2023 BMW 5 Series in terms of overall driving experience & handling?

It just depends on what you value the most in my opinion. If you are looking for reliability and quiet, plushy ride with a bit of luxurious in your vehicle? Then ES would be the one. But, if you’re looking for driving experience and handling then no brainer, absolutely BMW all the way.

Not sure why Lexus won't make more PHEV's...Problem is once you drive a PHEV a hybrid or ICE will never match the smoothness, comfort and quietness of a PHEV....It's night and day difference imo in terms of comfort...

The only difference between a regular hybrid and a PHEV is the latter has a bigger battery and you can plug it in. The performance and noise and ride etc are the same.

@@Sashazur That isn't true. I own a rx450h and an x50e. The x50e is considerably quieter and smoother. It's not even close...Also the batteries add 180 hp on top of the gas engine, so no the performance is not the same either.
