I hope you enjoy this how to tarp a load video. I go in depth and explain the basic strategies I use on every tarping job. Of course not all loads are the same, but the same basic principles still apply. There are a couple time saving tips as well as a couple fuel saving tips in this video. I hope you enjoy!!

Yes its a bunch of work and the tarp is heavy as hell. I refuse tarp loads as well because it absolutely should pay more on the rate to tarp

they typically do pay for having you tarp it, depends on your broker. Some pay $100 and ive seen some pay $200.

Tarping is therapeutic to me. I think it’s the left side of my brain in action. When we loaded glass it was like a competition to see who wrapped the best and had the least wind movement. 👍🏽🤘🏽

I’d underscore the part about taking your time. I took 6 hours to do my first load. I did it right but it took a while to do it. Good on you Driven. I hope this channel does you a modicum of the good it’s doing for your viewers.

So true about newbies, it’s taking me about 2.5 hours to tarp and secure a 35’ trailer. It’s unacceptable, but it’s where I’m at. I am getting better with it each time though. Mainly, I just run out of gas and get tired. I’m dealing with 100+° temps in the Deep South and tarping just wipes me out. I have to go shower immediately, every time I tarp a load.

Yes its a bitch especially when the freight is really tall. Completely wears you out and then having to drive afterwards its rough ! They should make light weight tarps because the heavy ass tarps is very difficult

I'm not trying to be mean Billy, but it looks like you can afford to lose a bunch of weight by your pic. I cut out all sugar and processed food and lost 40 lbs in 3 months. I went from 210 to 170. You'd be surprised how much more energy and stamina you will have. Stay safe!

I learned 2 use moving blankets 2 protect my tarp from sharp edges. I don't have enough room on my truck 4 all dis. Wow. May have 2 add another storage box!

I've been on platform for over 3 decades I never rush along Especially when I tarp I finally threw away my second set of tarps last year. Take care of your gear, it keeps the dollars in your pocket. Good video! I remember tarping when I was a rookie, hauling steel out of U..S. Steel in Gary. Best advise I got was to watch the "old timers" ! I wasn't the fastest, but damn it looked good! It kinda becomes second nature......

Im fixin to get back into flatbed at age 42. I first did it for about 2 1/2 years on and off in 2014. Then oilfield for about a year and a half. Now after doing reefer for last 2 1/2 yrs I am going to return to the open-deck world with a stepdeck this time.

This video might be over. Year old but I picked up steel channels in Cartersville a few weeks ago. I didn’t have moving pads but I had felt pads all the other drivers looked at me like I was crazy for putting them on my corners but I was the only one who car out without rips in my tarps. On the ends, pull the corners across first, then flap the centre over them. That way it is cleaner with fewer pockets to trap water, and less chance of the airflow ballooning the sheets. I see you are wearing gloves, but be wary of wearing rings. In any manual work they can catch and result in serious injury. A fellow driver lost a finger when he put his hand on the edge of a trailer as he jumped off it. Very good advice at 3-00. Concentrate on doing a job correctly, and you will get quicker without trying to.

The only problem I see is something a Utah DOT gave me a paper about. He pulled me into the scale one morning in Price,UT,now granted I pull tankers.I had 3 bags of chains tarp strapped to my catwalk behind the truck. He informed me that any device used to secure something,anything,to a commercial vehicle has to have a load rating and tarp straps do not have one. So in other words you can use the tarp straps to make it look pretty,but you’d better put a strap,or something over the tarps or it’s a load securement fine.
