Hi John, the hills do look similar to the Blue Mountains and those inland from Melbourne, they are a bit more rugged near the peaks. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride, it was one of the best tours I've had the pleasure to participate in.

A beautiful journey with mountains , rivers and even a reservoir. Unfortunately no glimpse of the dam wall itself. There were even glimpses of mining and cultivated landscapes and qaunt villages dotting the tracks.

Hi, Slovakia, especially Poprad is one of Europe's hidden gems. Railways survive that most likely would have closed had they been located elsewhere, not much has changed since the 60's, the area is beautiful and the people are relaxed and friendly, they smile, look happy and have time to enjoy life, at a time when many of us living in apparently more prosperous countries run just to stand still. I was impressed with Slovakia.

Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. I've have watched some of your videos, seeing other country's from a train window is truly fascinating, most of us will never see the places in Russia featured in your videos, I appreciate you sharing them, they are really interesting. I will try to book myself onto a rail tour to Russia at some future date, it looks too good to miss.

Hello Heinz, the mountain scenery is typical of most of Europe's mountain ranges. I didn't know much about Slovakia before this tour, now I would advise people that it is a beautiful country well worth visiting for a holiday, especially for hiking.

Hello Tim! There was once again a really good Diesel sound to hear. The engine was set very well. I hope you got something for your money 💰. Slovakia still has nice prices. Greetings from Hans from the Mühlviertel.👍

Good afternoon Hans, is it hot in Mühlviertel today? it's very warm here. A year has passed since I made this trip, time fly’s. The diesel engine sounded good, the crew not only drive the locomotive, they also look after it as part of the museum collection, I hope they read your comment. This tour was excellent value for money, one of the best I've participated in, with the added bonus of reasonably priced, tasty beer. We were made welcome everywhere we went, Slovakians should feel very proud of themselves and their beautiful country. Take care. Tim.

@@Timsvideochannel1 Good evening Tim! I have just read your answer. It has only 23 degrees Celsius today. But it is very humid for that. Over 70% humidity. Simply unbearable. At 14 o'clock it rained once. About 2 weeks ago we had a really bad hail. The grains were up to 45 mm (1 3/4 inches). Have a nice evening, Tim. Greetings Hans.

Nice ride Tim. What was that bridge being under constructed across river Vah as we passed at 27:43? It looked to me as if a metro bridge was being constructed for running elevated trains. What's ahead of Vrutky? Are you planning a cabride further ahead ? Or is it the end of the road?
@Timsvideochannel1
@Timsvideochannel1 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed it. The bridge work you saw was part of the D1 Motorway currently under construction in Slovakia - more details here - memim.com/d1-motorway-slovakia.html "Yes" there is more to come as our train leaves the main line to continue via secondary and branch lines to Bratislava. The next video should be ready sometime next weekend.

Around 59:15 we realise that the sound effect for the Pod Racer in SW:Ep1 was actually a diesel engine at idle. :)
@Timsvideochannel1
@Timsvideochannel1 5 жыл бұрын
The sound of the diesel engine is actually the locomotive that hauled our train, but I have to admit at the point you picked out 59:15 I did substitute the original soundtrack, because the driver was sharing a joke with his mate. Where I do substitute the soundtrack, I try to find something that sounds as near to the original as possible. Most of this video is the original soundtrack. In the past I used music, but that was not always popular.

Hi, my cameras are all 4K, but I film long cab rides in 1080P because the cameras overheat and switch off when set to 4K if they are used for long periods of time on external battery packs. I use GoPro Hero 6 and 7 cameras along with a Sony FDR-X3000 4K Action Camera. The GoPro's are very memory hungry and I use 256MB Memory Cards. The cameras can be running up to 14 hours some days, I have 6 x 256MB Memory Cards and that is not always enough, even at 1080P. 4K Is not really practicle for the kind of rail tours I participate in, remember I have to empty all those cards into an external hard drive and find time to sleep at night. Filming shorter cab rides on single day trip is a different matter, 4K is practicle. Another piont worth mentioning is that I can't see any difference in picture quality between 1080P and 4K taken with any of the action cams, it is only when I use expensive semi pro Sony cameras that the difference becomes noticable, but it is not a big difference.

High-speed railways and new motorways are still being built today; emerging nations see good transport links as vital, just as more established nations did 100 - 200 years ago. The question is - will modern architecture stand the test of time?
