The driver put our train though its paces on this route, he couldn't really hang around as our train was travelling long distances most days on single track railways, where it had to fit in with the regular traffic. Take care. Tim.

Hello Hans, that is really good news, I have to wear glasses for intricate or close up work these days, I'd be lost without them. I've spent half my working life developing the equipment for inserting lenses into people eyes, but I haven't been brave enough to get my own eyes fixed. It became more complicated when they started manufacturing bifocal lenses, because they need to be both the right way round and the right way up. Most of the early procedures were carried out on pigs because their eyes are similar to human eyes. Somewhere there is a field of pigs, some of which see the world upside down or very small because the equipment was still under development and things didn't always go to plan. Thank you, the mountains in the distance are the High Tatra mountains. In three or four videos time we will be travelling up them Swiss style, by rail and cable car, before then we will visit a freight only railway line out of Kosice for some very rare rail action.

The little GoPro's and Sony Action cams do a great job for their size, but even when set at 4K they are no match for their bigger cousins, unfortunately it is not practical to set up full size cameras in the locomotive cab on these trips.

Hi, the guy with white beard appears in a number of the videos I have taken on RTC tours, I will be visiting him on his home patch at the Puffing Billy Railway in Australia in February next year. Our driver (engineer) for much of the tour was the gentleman wearing the bright orange shirt near the beginning of the video.

Hi Chuck, that new Osmo Pocket looks good. I have a DJI Osmo camera, it is very good, but takes too long to set up for most of the things I do. My Sony cameras have floating lenses in them, even the action cam, but the camera that has impressed me the most is my GoPro 6 Black edition, it has really good stabilization built in. The video you are watching is taken with two Sony cameras, the little Sony action camera was big improvement on my old GoPro 3 Black Edition. The diesel locomotive this film was shot from vibrated a lot, it would have defeated my earlier cameras, but the little Sony and the GoPro 6 shot reasonable footage. I am going to New Zealand early next year and I will buy the new GoPro Hero7 Black Edition, as I was so impressed with Hero 6, Hopefully I will be able to get some really steady cab footage whilst I am there. It will be interesting to see how people get on with the new DJI Pocket. Stay warm. Tim.

Good morning Tim! Sure, you have many cameras of the compact class by 2+ firms, and you can compare these completely. But you haven't not one camera with true 'gimbal' system, isn't it? At any previouse time I not watched none cameras of this class and possibility, when has such reasonable design and this attractive price to performance ratio quality, like this camera (i.e. Osmo Pocket). So the Hero 6 has such programm ('electronic' only) stabilisation, without any mechanical stab. It's good for any part of conditions, but it's bad for other parts -- when amplitude of rocking is too great -- for example, of shooting on going: what the cameras do well with electronic "gyroscopic" stabilizer, such as Sony 300/3000, or we are considering here. (Of course, any action camera, and not only this one, can be installed on suitable gimbal stab, but it turns out to be big, expensive and heavy "combine", hehehe...) The Sony camera is very good, but 'internal gimbal' are not very powerful, alas!.. Sure, and I prefer wait a part of time for see how people get on with the new DJI Pocket! :-) Take care. Chuck P.S. Hi, after almost 14 hours of filming I ran out of memory cards, the GoPro 6 and 7 cameras really get through them, much more so than the earlier versions. Hello Heinz, I can't believe how much we accomplished on this two week rail tour and there is still a lot to edit :-)

That train was crossing junction few seconds before (when trains crosses junction, its mandatory to have panto down), and as you see in 42:04 loco was again going on other junction (on right side of track), so loco driver decide to leave panto down.

Are they ghosts? or could they be using a Star Trek style transporter beam? both sound like more fun than a simple video fade.

No, its not me, he's a friend and sometimes traveling companion from Oz, he can normally be found on the station at Menzies Creek on the Puffing Billy Railway.

No, I am not the gent with the beard and white hair, we have both participated in a number of tours around the former Eastern Europe over the years and become friends, he is from Australia where he spends his time on the Puffing Billy Railway near Melbourne.
