@@tressteleg1 back when I lived in Melb, they were my favourite! I know they had issues in the past, but I used to enjoy riding them.

I doubt if they are any better today. Certainly some make strange noises from the gearboxes which apparently require a fair amount of maintenance.

When these tracks were laid, the other traffic was a few horses and carts with an occasional motor car. So who is the real invader? 😊

And where do you suggest that the replacement tramline be built? Somewhere away from the shops where people want to carry out their business? Don’t forget that when those tramlines were built, other road traffic was a sparse collection of horse-drawn vehicles and motor vehicles.

@@tressteleg1 No. I meant to say to rip it up and replace it with the smoother rail so people won't hear the joint of them.

So you should have said ‘renew the tram rails’. That of course is another matter, and bit by bit the worst bits of track in Melbourne have been replaced with much nicer new rail. It just is a matter of time as to when this line gets done compared with others.

That traffic is nothing compared with what I saw when in Melbourne on a Saturday two weeks ago! And I’m talking about outer suburbs, not the city!

The traffic lights delayed us so long that the 64 was essentially out of sight by the time we got into Hawthorn Road and we never caught up with it again.

Because each tram costs millions of dollars. Nevertheless they are preparing design features for the new G class trams, I think to number 100. Don’t expect them next week though!

I do one Melbourne trams video about once a month so I do not run out of lines to cover too soon. As for Covid, Melbourne is probably the safest place in Australia at the moment as they have taken no overseas arrivals, the only source of that scourge these days, since mid February and will not restart until 8 April. That is why I went down there first part of March.

@@tressteleg1 I believe that the greatest threat from the Chinese Flu is not the virus but the media hype and the government power grab taking all our freedoms away... Numbers are inflated and media keeps everyone afraid.

A little but generally it takes long enough to cut out every pause, say how long, reduce the size of the font, add the yellow without adding another step which takes several steps to access and leave, besides each fade adding more time to the video. But I have used it occasionally. Anyway no matter how long or short my videos are, the average view time is only about six minutes so few people would notice the difference.

A fair amount of luck thrown in as well. No way could I get a sly drive of anything these days. Too much supervision.

There are hundreds to do on the system, but in fairness, a lot of noisy track has been replaced in recent years, and I expect that will continue.
