A few other things you should have in your pack, white athletic tape, Immodium, and lastly a shaker bottle and some protein powder in case you just have "one of those days" where lunch is just not going to happen. I lived in the field for weeks on end, so I'm no stranger to long hours and garbage chow, I just traded one uniform for another.

I link 2 of the diad belt clips together and wrap with hockey tape/ it brings the diad down lower and right were my hand is and i don't have to raise my shoulder or lift jacket/shirt plus the seatbelt isn't right on it. takes a good whack to set them together but its awesome having the board down lower.

@UPS Chris I started my driver training this week. First day was a lot to take in but I know I can learn the methods and the repetition pretty fast if I can just keep doing it. However I keep getting told to stay home nobody can train you. My first schedule day was Monday. I was there for 2 hours only to find out the sup went to another HUB and I wasn't starting. I came in the next day Wednesday at 12pm to go with a sup on a route to train. Then Thursday told to stay home sup is sick. Is this normal in your 30 days ? The trainer seem to imply I did ok, and he doesn't typically let people drive on the first day just do the diad work which I did both. I struggled to know my streets and again the thinking ahead is something i know I can learn if I just keep doing it. It's the same when I was in pre-load. I was throw into the fire but learned quick by always doing it and ended up being one of the many pre-loaders in the Hub. It's discouraging wanting to work but being told to stay home.

Are you still working for UPS?
@proudcanadian9816
@proudcanadian9816 2 жыл бұрын
@@fearnobodyandtrustnoone no, I'm not. I guess I wasn't fast enough, or refused to take out vehicles in disrepair. So when I began to mention that a vehicle's steering wheel was so bad that it was almost unsafe to try to drive straight above 40 mph, they just switched my vehicle. . . then a few days later, they gave me back the same vehicle and guess what ? Steering was still the same. When it came to my 3 month probation time, they said it wasn't working out for them and they are letting me go. Far as I'm concerned, it was the best thing they ever did for me. I'm driving a tractor trailer now and never looked back. UPS is nothing but a corporate meat grinder. If you don't like running yourself into the ground day in and day out, and don't like to take demeaning verbal abuse from the dispatchers ? No problem, they just show you the door.

Fortunately the new shorts actually have a button, instead of that little clip, which breaks all the time (My belly lol) The new shirts are nice, got 2 golf ones, and i normally take an Xl, but they were way to big. Large fits perfect, have to order a size down for shirts, jackets ect. Kinda sux, they got rid of the double pockets on the new shirt jacks. I don't mind 1 pocket on the golf shirts, but the shirt jacks, common UPS? Twin Hill, had slightly better build quality imo, but the styling definitely better with Wear guard. I just started as a driver. Today is my 4th day on my own and we have as much packages as peak season rn. My route usually has 120-190 stops but I have yet to actually finish all my stops before reaching my 14 hour mark. Any tips to help me deliver faster. I want to be able to finish all my stops at the very least in 13 hours

The speed will come on time, just be safe and work on the small things like, organization, remembering your next stop, where it is on the shelf, how many packages. Work on being smooth on putting on the seatbelt, starting the vehicle,checking those mirrors. You got this!!!

Don't mention the days we couldn't wear shorts or how the package cars are cushy now with heat, lights and power steering. I think they might even have automatics..... Almost forgot the plywood shelves with splinters and Ford P400's where you couldn't get out of the seat because of the doghouse. Great days, more freedom.

Zak H best way to start out is by becoming a seasonal driver, then when the season is up you’ll be a loader, then when the season starts back up you’re a driver again. This might last a couple years but it’s worth it!

No a cdl wont help, they require a cdl d. Yeah you can get hired as seasonal driver but to become full timer you gotta put in the time. After I went into feeders I saw a driver who transferred back to his original country center (his route got absorbed by the city so he had to come along with it). I couldn't figure out why he'd lose all his bidding seniority and he took me to the metro log.... Heaviest route had 150 pieces, then I understood.

@@XTen1000DaysX so different facilities do it differently. I know some you have to put in time in the warehouse to get the chance for a driver position. Right now I got a shot at a driver position simply by applying. Check the UPS website for the nearest facility to you. Covid is making it hard for them to hire. Now might be your chance.
