Hi Geoff. I guess lots of people will have visited the South Island but not from this perspective. The coastal section appeared to have drift wood on both side of the tracks. Interesting.

the land has been destroyed by the diary, very sad to see. Now we have to undo the damage, but that will take decades if not centuries to get the Nitrate's out of the water systems and for the land to heal.

Are we still using our coal or is it exported?

The New Zealand coal is a high sulfer coal so NZ doesn’t really life using it, but some places do. Most of the coal is imported from another country

What a lovely place to travel sad we got nutters who run our railways here in New Zealand so many folks i have spoken too cant believe theres no passenger trains in that part of the country only to WestPort what a waste

Thre is no passenger train to Westport. Only Trans Alpine, Chch to Greymouth.

Yes it is very odd. A good quality rail service in the south would be tremendous.

No trains to Westport, Christchurch - Greymouth (Tranzalipne) and Christchurch - Picton (Tranzcoastal), freight line runs all the way down to Invercargill and there is the privately run Taieri Gorge Railway out of Dunedin

At my guess it’s either a DFT, DXB or a DXC, the company is Kiwirail

Ich glaube, dass NZ ein sehr großes Land ist, aber diese Fahrten sind nicht so interessant, dass ich das mir noch länger ansehen will!!! Ich werde das Abo beenden, leider!
