Here's Why The C7 Corvette Z06 Is Still Expensive

In this video I talk about why the C7 Corvette z06 is still expensive. The C7 generation of the Corvette Z06 has been around for several years at this point and still has a lot of appeal. After all, it still has the 6.2 liter, supercharged, V8 engine that makes 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. The Z06 in this video is equipped with the Z07 package which makes this Corvette a track handling monster
But, lately, the C7 Z06 prices have been on the rise and many people wonder why? Well, first off, the C7 Z06 is still an unbelievably fast car and it looks great. Second, its the last Corvette that you'll probably be able to get in a manual transmission. For these reasons that C7 Z06 prices have remained steady, and in some cases, have been appreciating in price.
Overall, the C7 Corvette Z06 is an amazing car with a lot of power, speed, and good looks. The interior and technology is starting to show some age, however, its still serves as a functional interior with decent quality. Let me know if you have any questions about the C7 Z06!

I own one of these cars. I have found that under full power that the automatic does not shift slowly at all. I have owned several corvettes and the ZO6 is the best by far of any that I have owned. You are absolutely correct when you say that the car will get away from you if your not careful.

As a retired veteran street cop of 24 years, I know speed that most don't. My 2019 Z06 is faster than any patrol car with a "police" package I've ever driven. The handling is incredible with the 335/25r 20 Michelin tires and enhanced brakes & suspension. The raw power is more exhilarating than driving code 3 at 130+ mph with emergency blue lights & siren activated to a hot call. It's a collector's dream car for the ages, for multiple reasons.

Yep. I love my bought new 2017 Stingray with a manual transmission and NPP exhaust upgrade. It's my daily commuter and grocery getter; I've racked up 38k smiles. I would probably never sell it because it's a manual transmission.

Nice Vid. I have a 15 Z07 manual and I am shocked at the prices that they are selling for these days. I think its all about the fact that the C8 is auto only. Not everyone likes paddle shifters! and the manual gives you a much better feel and control of the car. Keep up the good work.

Ltns Andy! It's Vita Marie. Great review on the Corvette! Having a collection of cars and trucks myself; I really enjoy the old school analog. Vehicles are turning into a cockpit of a jet. Probably the best Corvette review I've seen. Thanks! I have a 2017 Grand Sport LT3, black and red. My dream car since childhood. Review covered just about everything. My only complaint with the car is the rear wheels are so wide, they 'crack' and leak, and I've bought a new set each year because of it. Again, thanks for the video, it was really well though out.

you definitely let off the throttle and point the steering wheel in the direction you want to go when the tires have broken loose and you feel like the car is getting away from you, it will stop the loss of traction. the problem is when people hit the breaks when the tires are breaking loose and over correct by not pointing the wheel in the correct direction

I went on a ride in one of these.......when the nose pitches up it's like the afterburners are lit and the torque glues you to the seat. it's kinda scary but at the same time it's so much fun

Yep, my 16 C7Z has 73,000miles and I have no problems at all. Plus with smaller pulley and headers the power is just as good as any modern 2021 car in this class. Car is reliable and destroys 99% of the cars the even try to attempt to challenge me. I also had my transmission retuned which made it even more of a beast. The C8 has nothing for me 😂. Would not get ride of this car especially this being the last Z that is front engine. Ooh and I paid much much less than what people paid for them new in 2015 (100K). The car has been on many trips and drives well and the speaker system is amazing.

Very nice review. When mine loses the rear I let if slightly and steer out. Never lost control yet. It can be dangerous to someone who isn't a good driver. Thanks for the great video drive safe.

Love my 2018 Z06/Z07, almost traded it in a 2018 porsche turbo last year....couldn't do it....the C7 Z06 is just too good....Added the DSC suspension module, along with a few other tasteful mods...it's a keeper!

I have a 14' Z51 manual with aftermarket supercharger/methanol and it is a blast to drive! Crazy amount of power, but still rides very comfortably. I really enjoy driving it everywhere, I can go on an interstate trip and get 25 mpg or get 17 through redlight traffic in town. Teenagers and folks my age (54) give me compliments and/or wanna race me all the time! The most difficult thing for me is getting in and out of the thing!! Lol The targa top is the best of both worlds, I keep it out 90% of the time. In my opinion it is the best bang for your buck if you are in the market for a real performance car with tons of features.

I just bought a 2019 z06 manual. Setting it up for road course. They do still need quite a bit of cooling. Also 2019 auto has a giant radiator that the manual didn't get. I just swapped in the auto radiator into my manual last night. 1.25 inches vs 2 inch thick. Also doing lg cooling kit

Owned one since 2016, no brake sensor issue but cracked wheels are a real concern. There are well over 100 threads about this on Corvette Forum. But I love it.

I love my 2017 z06 manual 3LZ the only thing is i cant let it go in the garage dirty every time it leaves the garage it gets a full clean vaccumed wiped down interior and full polish exterior. Even if it moves to the driveway and back it gets cleanned . Its alot of work . Also recommend a full PPF xpipe throttle body and intake . Its the chefs kiss .

A going away present from GM....they already had the C8 ready for market and decided to bless the Corvette enthusiasts with this last generation of pure raw good old American horsepower and scary fast torque.....these C7 Z06's will be the next 63 split window or L88 Stingrays and will be way more valuable 25 years from now than the C8

I got a Watkins grey as well with yellow calipers .. the grey didn’t grow on me until after I tinted it and blacked out the taillights.. but then I wrapped it so that’s that 😂

Well I do agree, but with some remark.. What about the C3 then? Is it a joke to the Automotive design world? The C3 is absolutely timeless. I would say C3 is where Corvettes really started the sportscars feel. Though a C2 I reckon is a masterpiece of design and is a classic among Classics..

26:52 the shortcoming he mentions (but doesnt say to shill the car), is that the there is a very noticeable delay when you manually shift gears in the automatic. It requires you to press the paddle wayyy earlier than redline, so the car shifts right before redline

I recently purchased a 2016 Z06, 3LZ, convertible, in Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic. It is awesome. I like both the coups and verts, but with the vert I really love the trunk lid with the top both up and down. I almost bought a coup with an M7, but it sold from out from under me. I'm happy with the A8 vert. Thanks for the video! Still think the C7 is a little prettier than the C8!

I agree with you about the Z06 but when it comes to the grand sport it's a different story it has the same problems with the rims as the Z06 the same engine as the Z51 my 2016 Z51 with a supercharger will spank the grand sport any time. It's lighter and more aerodynamic than the grand sport that's why when it came time to buy one it was either going to be Z06 or a Z51 at least 2Lt package to get the heads up display I never even considered a grand sport

My 2017 Z06 with 8,000 miles and M7 KBB is telling me it's about $78,000 with private party (Excellent condition) Funny thing is MSRP was 83k, this chip shortage thing is driving used car prices up. Do you think I should wait or sell right now? Is it going to keep going up? It's unbelievable this chip thing. Thanks for the awesome video I enjoyed every min of it.

The C5 Corvettes were all the same width. Yes even the frc used for the Z06 was 73.6 inches as was the C5 base and convertible.

Question 4 U, I have owned 7 or 8 Corvettes since 1966 a 1964 convertible 365 HP, 79, 81 SC, 93, 98 Z61 SC, 07 Z06 today 2014 A6 Z51. In 2 years i will be able to use $50K Plus my 2014 9,000 miles today to trade. 2017-19 Z06 or 2023 C8 E Ray??????

The car looks great as do all Corvettes tbh. However all that power needs to have the handling to match otherwise you can’t use it to its full potential. First Corvette I saw up close was back in 2002 when I was in VA USA and the car was Z06. Great looking car and great value for money when comparing with European counterparts which are more expensive due to them playing on their racing history. I think Porsche have won LeMans more than any manufacturer. One thing for sure is that the Vette more than matches them all for looks and IMO looks way better than any 911. C8 for me doesn’t look as good as the front engined corvettes

With the C8s out, the C7s are relatively cheap. You can get them as low as $50k. Also, Jaguar F type should be mentioned in there along side the Porsche.

23:15 I had this same issue with the 2 front brake sensors on my z06 one was replaced under bumper to bumper warranty. The other was already out of warranty and they charges me $60 out of the $350 for parts and labor since I talked to GM and told them these sensors shouldn't be going out that quickly. And they agreed to pick up a huge amount of the bill. Parts alone are only 50 bucks. So it can be done at home if your able jack up your car and remove the wheels.

I have a 2019 Grand Sport 2lt. Shadow Gray with adrenaline red interior comp seats. Beautiful car. Timeless design. It's plenty fast for me so I can only imagine the Z06.

I think this generation Vette will be popular because last front engine Vette. The C8 is an amazing vehicle, but just a different car. I don't these will ever go down much in price.

While there's some validity to the argument that prices are stable and/or appreciating due to it being the last manual Corvette, the last front engine/RWD Corvette, etc., the chief culprit isn't any of those things - it's the national inventory shortage and semi-conductor supply issue. That's the singular reason the used market is exploding right now and why dealer inventory on new cars sells for MSRP + dealer markup; no negotiations are to be had right now. Right now, if you want to play, you have to pay. Simple as that. When the chip shortage sorts itself towards the end of 2022 and (hopefully) Covid ceases to be a problem, prices will depreciate and stabilize again.

You forgot to mention the compartment behind the slide down radio screen. Just don’t put a pistol in there, it can get stuck

@@johnasbury9915 yeah i used to put one in there. Rick Conti has a video of if a gun gets jammed up against the sliding door. It is a major job to get the unit out. Definitely make sure it has some wiggle room. 🤘

@@kiddt1999 mine almost fit perfectly to pin itself in there. I did have a few paranoid moments that it could get stuck but luckily it never did… I had some Luck for once! 😀
