PART II:
In the Spring of 2001, DRIVE THE GLOBE | Overland Adventures completed Stage I of its Trans-Africa Expedition.
This video features highlights of the Sahara crossing, made between Nouadhibou and Nouakchott Mauritania, a vast, desolate desert expanse where the only road is the wind swept sand dunes and hard rock strewn piste.
This nearly 250 mile journey took three days and saw temperatures climb to over 110 degrees fahrenheit.
It was completed with four Land Rover expedition vehicles.
Participants included Expedition Leaders, Michael Ladden and Paul Shumway, as well as Pat Macomber, Al Cornell, Jim Leach, Wilson Bullard, Shane Ballensky and Ed Messenger.

All stupid comments... But 14 years ago 🤔 Landies was made for this, and it was a fun expedition between friends, not to prove or discover or achieve anything except having a good time... In a Landy the journey starts when you leave home, what ever happens en route, happens, all part of the fun and experience... 🇿🇦

OH MY GOD. You go down into one of the worst environments in the world for vehicles to operate in and you didnt even check your fluid levels? YOU NEVER EVEN CHANGED YOUR FLUIDS BEFORE THE EXPEDITION?

The last comment is a bit un fair as they are older models with petrol motors requiring large amounts of petrol to be carried. All the vehicles were overloaded and were running the worst tyres for running over sand giving little floatation and making transmissions and motors work harder cutting though the sand and not floating over it.

I would say you shouldn't left tarmac looking at the rear axles thank fuck you had a truck in your convoy .. you would of died in the desert otherwise..
