Relocating and starting life in a new environment is always nerve-racking or scary. It's a beautiful island with no season changes some hurricanes, a slower lifestyle with a fair share of issues but overall, very nice people and different culture. I suggest you take a couple of trips to get an idea of what life will be like and when there, go out to the events and talk to the people. Thanks for watching and good luck to you both.👍😎

I was there too when it happened, it was bad at first, but got great after a few months.

Absolutely a must trip for you and the kids. I did it with my daughter and she loved it. It was nice to show her all the great things the island has offer it was especially touching to see her pick the different fruits from the trees an experience she just doesn't get while living in a big city.

Unless someone ships in a RHD car all vehicles are LHD. All the years of visitng and renting vehicles I never come across any RHD cars even when I lived there.

@@nextgenaviation24 - when I was a child, born and partly raised in St. Croix, one of my teachers had a blue Ford where the driver's side was on the right. That was in the '80s.

Thank you for watching. Its been that way for decades when it comes to distribution of money to all 3 islands which leaves many people asking why the gross neglect of St.Croix. Growing up on St.Croix, I used to hear my parents mentioned it as well but I truly love all 3 islands despite I've only been to St.Thomas and of course, St.Croix.

@@nextgenaviation24 The reason that St. Thomas has historically seen more commercial activity than St. Thomas is because St. Thomas had the deepwater port at Charlotte Amalie that accomodated cruise ships. That was a very powerful economic engine that St. Croix did not enjoy until the long pier was built in Fredericksted in the 1960's. that could accommodate most of the cruise ships back then. My father, John Moore was Assistant Commissioner of Public Works for St. Croix and was responsible for overseeing the construction of that pier. He was appointed by the Governor who was appointed by President Kennedy. Back then, the governor of the US Virgin Islands was appointed, not elected as done now. At that time, tourism fueled the commercial activity in St. Thomas and agriculture, sugarcane and rum distilling were important activities in St. Croix. When I lived there in the 1950's, St. John was an uninhabited island.

St Croix has a shallow harbor. No cruise ships. St. Thomas on the other hand might have up to 5 cruise ships in one day. St. Croix is the BIG ISLAND with half the population of St Thomas.

St. Croix is known as the Bread Basket of the Caribbean. We have been pretty much self reliant. It has NOTHING to do with the deep port of St. Thomas. Before Hugo 1989 we were on equal footing with St. Thomas and on the verge of surpassing them. We had The NY Yankees and Boston Red Sox playing at Paul E Joseph Stadium in the 1960s, movies (Trading Places and a shout out by Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop), television programs (Miami Vice, All My Children, Good Morning America and Greatest American Hero), music videos (Fat Boys), more lined up including Sinbad set to have a comedy special with Earth Wind and Fire. How I know this, I am from Twin City and was there when ALL that took place except for the Yankees/Red Sox. Hugo gave St.Thomas the opportunity to build themselves at the expense of St.Croix being nearly destroyed by Hugo. St. Thomas thinks about ONLY St.Thomas because they are afraid St. Croix will be better than them. That is the reason why. @bobmoore4283 how is it you were on St. Croix in the 1950s and think St. John was never an inhabited island. The Rockerfellers stole the land deeds from the people and gave it to the Feds then it became a national park to prevent those people from reclaiming their land. I am Crucian and I have NEVER heard anyone say St. John had no one living there during that period of time and that includes family members who are VI historians. @pamelaannis715, St. Croix's population has ALWAYS been higher than St.Thomas. Just did a quick check STX population is 50,000 to STT 42,000. Don't speak on things that you know nothing about.

When I was visiting, the roads appeared to be badly neglected. A matter of fact, the car we rented needed repairs from the pot holes that we accidentally hit.😔 I'm not sure if any improvements was done since.

Our story seems to be very similar. My mom also moved me to the states when I was 10 to live with siblings. I suffered thru so much home sickness. When I was old enough. I would fly home as much as I could which became a treat and still is. I'd rent a car and just drive the island this is how I discovered areas I never knew existed. Thanks for watching👍👍

I have to agree. It's such a small islands that she knows my family. She even allowed me to bring the kids to use the pool so, I'm forever greatful. Her cottage is now my spot for everytime I go back. Glad you liked the video.👍👍👍

Thank you for watching. Most people will visit St. Thomas and never give it a second thought to hop on a plane and spend the day on the island. I'm glad the refinery reopened and you're planning to move there. I'm sure you're gonna love your new home. I have family on the island but since I brought a friend down with me we stayed at an Air B & B which I highly recommend. Let me know when you're going so I can get you the contact number for the property owner and yes keep me posted. The cost of goods from the supermarket and other stores are very high almost like Hawaii so, on your initial move you may want to ship a few boxes of toiletries, detergent and whatever you can think of to hold you over. The people are very nice so you shouldn't have any issues making new friends. I plan to return in July 2020 for a few days. Many blessings to you.
