Thank you - I first visited Interlaken and the Bernese Oberland on a school holiday by train from the UK in 1970. Despite travelling to many places over the years since then..... nowhere beats Switzerland for me! Just when you think it can't get any more beautiful.....it does! I love the way everything 'works' in Switzerland - especially the amazing co-ordinated travel system - and in that typical unassuming Swiss way too!

Did similar drive about 10 years back (how time flies) - we started from Beatenberg (up above Interlaken)! Spectacular. The other way to Lauterbrunnen is not too shabby either.

I’m getting ready to go for my daily walk here in Snohomish county in Washington State, which will consist of me getting angry at the amount of trash on the sides of the roads, broken down cars left out in the street or on the sidewalk forcing people to walk on the street, amount of trash in their yards and dilapidating homes. I was born in Bern Switzerland and lived in Büren before moving to the states and just last night as we were pulling into the driveway some of our neighbors were coming back from a walk, we got on several subjects but one subject was the amount of trash on our walks, some of which is caused by our own city employees. I mentioned to them that you don’t see trash in Switzerland and that they should watch these videos to prove my point. Everyone of these thirty to sixty minute videos I’ve watched there was maybe once piece of paper being blown across a street, other than that none. I’m retired now and have contemplated just taking my neighborhood on as my own project, I wouldn’t step foot on anyone’s property but just clean up the street, trash, weeding etc maybe encouraging people to take some pride in their investment, but that might be tough in its self since the majority of people in my neighborhood have all of their blinds/curtains shut. I for one could not imagine not letting in that vitamin D or just taking in the beautiful Northwest sky and trees.

Too bad you didn't start at Harderstrasse instead of Strandbadstrasse. I would have liked to imagine all of my fellow Americans seeing the grandeur of the Victoria-Jungfrau Hotel and then seeing the Hooters next door. I am sure they would be astonished. I was, luckily they were quick enough to serve me boneless buffalo style chicken wings and small beer in the short amount of time my tour bus allowed me.

I’ve some doubts…I never visit Switzerland and also Interlaken on the last days of February and first days of March, can you please confirm to me if it’s mandatory to have winter/snow tires or if the “four all season” tires it’s allowed? Cause I will rent my car in France, and the car won’t have this “winter/snow” tires on the rental company, only this “four all season”. Also in Interlaken area, not on the Alpes, but at the regular highway…was necessary to use chains for the tires anytime?

Just curious, but what are the laws of littering in this country, because I did not see one speck of trash on the side of the road. Beautiful and clean...I love it!!! Wish it was like this in the US.
