Bearing in mind a large proportion of people can't be bothered to sign petitions or take part in political activity, this is very high, especially as Wales only has a population of 3.1 millions. There is NO "sense" in it. It is part of an anti-car, WOKE, planet saving, tree hugging, virtue signalling ideology coming to a Town or City or Western Country near you, It's certainly NOT about safety ~ which is a red herring.

This will not bankrupt Wales lol. The speed limit will have little to no impact on the economy of Wales, it may actually increase foot traffic and tourism within the small villages with more time to process thoughts about stopping to visit cafe's etc.

I’ve had requests so it’s definitely not an issue. What IS an issue is the people say they’re avoiding Wales because of 20’s. That means if they aren’t lying they’re avoiding Scotland, the West Country, the North West and the South East. Oh and Europe too with their 18.6 limits.

People do not understand mini roundabouts and I have just seen someone roaring up to one hooting at some one in his way who actually had right of way. Turning right at one near me enforcing your right of way without keeping a wary eye on oncoming traffic would be very dangerous. Always comical when people roll up simultaneously to all the entries. Things do not always scale down and the large roundabouts usually work well. The one linking the A120 to the M11 at Stansted airport however going North is a total nightmare of precarious lane switching to get the right one for your exit as the lanes veer off, all complicated by traffic lights. The traffic lights however are necessary as sustained traffic from one side can completely gridlock an entry point. At the other end of the A120 at Braintree the dual carriageway runs in to a multiple roundabout needing early warning signs for traffic which can jam up way back in rush hour. You have your heart in your mouth trying to get on to that roundabout. These roundabouts are all about minimising cost not efficiency or safety as managed traffic lights can optimise flow effectively from all entry points.

Last time I came through Holyhead Port .. after this 20 mph lunacy .. I noted all the signs coming out of the port were still 30 mph until meeting the Main A55 .. traffic moving very good out of the port .. may have changed now though ... what do they want a massive amount of lorries/cars/cans clogging up the highways around Holyhead. 20 mph .. driving Welsh folk off their heads .😕

One thing this highlights is how many rubbish drivers are on the roads. Some apparently can't glance at a speedo correctly to make sure they're driving at the correct limit.

@@p0neh1 Not just useless speed limits, it's a combination of this sort of stuff that's been adding up for the last 20 or so years. In residential and high ped traffic areas like schools, I see the point of em, but out on a main road? It's pointless! Theoretically, if you needed to drive 30 miles on a 20mph road, you'll be driving for 1hr30 mins compared to just 1hr on a 30mph road. These 'small' changes are being made in the name of control, oh and trust me, with the amount of shit I've seen in my lifetime, this is only the beginning, I guarantee it with my life. The UK was known for having one of the best police forces, with tolerable crime rates. Look at the police nowadays, they're just a cleanup crew in London after a stabbing. The crime rates have shot up, and they're only ever increasing, year by year. They don't know how to get rid of protesters who block traffic (JSO). And more often than not, assist bailiffs despite it breaching their code of conduct. Thieves stole your tools in your van plus the van itself? Couldn't care mate, it's a petty crime now, we don't come out for that. But the moment you install a security device (e.g electric shocker on your door handles) for the prevention of theft, they'll be coming out right away to make sure it's "safe"... And don't get me started on the NHS, it's been torn to shambles... Unless your penis has been cut in half, you ain't getting seen til you're in the grave nowadays

We use 2nd and third depending on the car/bike. Usually between 2000 and 2600 rpm.

Mine uses M4 (auto), at just over 1,000rpm - the OP needs to learn how to use their gears IMO, or just buy an auto

Nothing stopping people walking with a 30mph zone either. 20mph just causes more frustration and road rage - I've seen it in spades since it got introduced here in Scotland. Most people ignore it because it's ridiculously slow. Especially in longer villages.

@@johnwade1095 yeah, definitely not. I'm all for behaving in built-up areas, but the 20 as a blanket speed is just silly. In some areas such as a busy high street I can understand it (and often I'm doing 20-25 in those areas), but longer roads within a village that have nothing nearby, nah.

@@a20axf People don't feel safe walking in a 30mph so don't. They just get into their cars instead adding to pollution and congestion. The 8 20mph trials in Wales saw a significant increase in walking and cycling. We need more 20mph zones.
