Well done Steve, your drive into Blackpool brought back some happy memories of my weekly business trips Blackpool of which I did many over a 15 year period and stopping off at the travel lodge as you enter Blackpool the way you came in from Kirkham. Keep up your excellent work in producing these excellent video’s.

I can remember camping in a campervan around summer of 2002 in the Lake District and we decided to drive into Blackpool for the day. The exciting moment we saw the tower and then driving along the promenade was overwhelming almost and we couldn’t wait to get parked up and see the town. This brought back some memories 👍

I absolutely love Blackpool since my first experience in the 90's (depends where you go) but I do get excited when seeing the tower after a long trip from South Wales. Three years running with 12 visits, wife likes Liverpool, Manchester etc but if we travel to the other places there must be a couple of nights in the old favourite! Not sure what it is but there is something you cannot get anywhere else in the UK

Another great "A Drive on the Wild Side" video Stephen! I still look for the Tower but I do it on the train after leaving Kirkham and Wesham . The number of times I've beaten the kids on the train during the traditional "who can spot the Tower first" competition.... I should be quids in! 😁. Used to have a weeks holiday with mum and dad back in 60’s before the M62 was built, driving from Brighouse to Blackpool down the Calder Valley towards Preston, took absolutely ages and in July Preston was always gridlocked with holiday makers heading for Blackpool. Blackpool seemed like another world compared to hilly West Yorkshire, red brick buildings were totally alien to me. I had no money to spend but my parents let me wander around the Pleasure Beach on my own, how times have changed! I loved Blackpool and still enjoy an unplanned trip every now and then. It’s true it has lost some of its former glory, back in the day the beach was packed and everyone enjoyed the fresh air by the sea, we didn’t spend much unlike nowadays where everything seems to have a price tag.

I don't think it was actually. The surface changes a few times, it can go from rough to smooth. Yeadon Way was much quieter, I found, but also I was travelling at a slower speed.
