Driving Motorhome/RV on Million Dollar Highway / hwy 550

In this video, we drive our rv down one of the most dangerous highways in the country: The Million Dollar Highway (Hwy 550 in Colorado from Silverton to Ouray). For this trip, we not only drive our motorhome but also flat tow our Jeep Wrangler Rubicon along this dangerous road. Should you drive your camper on the Million Dollar Highway? We will let you know! As we were filming this video, there was a car wreck on highway 550, and a few days before, we were stopped by a mudslide on the highway. With narrow sections, few guardrails, and countless switchbacks, this is absolutely a road that should not be taken lightly. At the end of this video, we will also talk about scorching your breaks or burning your breaks. Don't make the mistake we made!

Making this drive from Durango to Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park tomorrow in a 45' MH towing our Gladiator. That's a total length of approx 71 feet.. Thanks for posting your video. It was very informative. I'm happy to know that ill be driving the mountain side on this route.

We decided to take the north route into Ouray from Montrose after reading about this route in. Many of the locals aren't fans of tourists taking south route into town. You guys gave some great advice in this video. Thanks for taking the time to make this

Low gear crawl down and try not to use the brake anymore than you have to. If you do have to use your brakes a lot pull over every once in a while and let them cool off. Safe travels!!

Very good advice about not letting the traffic behind speed you up. I’ve driven some Colorado mountain passes, including Independence Pass, and totally agree with you.

@@BenandBrandi Can’t remember when I subscribed, but I developed a passion for off-road videos during the 2020 COVID shutdown. I’ve owned a Jeep in the past and my only experience off-road is in my home state of Louisiana (lots of swamp and unfortunately the mud that goes with it). I’ve got a Bronco Badlands on order and plan to hit the trails in Colorado and Moab as soon as possible. Although I subscribe to some large audience sites like TrailRecon, Lite Brite, and others, I’m always on the lookout for the “diamonds in the rough” like Colorado4x4 (Geoff is an awesome guy), Outlaw 923 (I found John through Geoff, and he’s a good dude, too), and many others. And because KZfaq sends me new videos to watch with the same content, that is how I found you. And the content was good enough for me to stay with you. Best of luck in your travels and thanks for sharing your adventures.

@@BenandBrandi Will do! I got mine ordered Day 2 (first morning) around 11 AM. But I ordered all the “deadly sins”………..2.7, Sasquatch, Tow Package, LUX, and the biggest of all, the MIC hardtop. I’m sticking with what i want…….for $59k, getting what I really want. What did you order and when did you get it in? Good luck!!!
