I can remember during one of my driving lessons I pretty much stalled the car one after another but my instructor never told me how exactly I could get to the biting point lol so I had to figure it out myself over the next few lessons and it drove me nuts. After a bundle of stress, anxiety & setbacks I finally passed my test, 2nd attempt, on the 25th of May! ✨ My motivation was for my late friend Andrew who had sadly passed away last year during the pandemic, he had a ‘test pass’ card made for me which he never got to give personally, he had it tucked away for me once I had achieved it, his family had given it to me before his funeral. Soon as I get a car in a couple weeks I will visit him where he rests & finally open it up in his honour, to let him know I’ve finally done it for him! 🙂 To every cloud there is a silver lining …💫 Thank you Pin Paji for sharing your knowledge with us all & to those who are all on their learning journey, don’t give up & remember why you started in the first place, you will succeed….💚 🧙‍♂️💚

Great driving videos, detailed and educational. I passed my practical today, my 3rd attempt with 1 minor fault. The biggest lesson I learnt is you need to have a good instructor and enjoy their style of learning. My 1st instructor was incompetent, and had a very strange way of teaching and often used to make me feel on edge and uneasy. If you gut instinct says that you are not progressing with your driving then take the courage to find a new instructor. Have faith in yourself and be confident, and finally be proactive when learning how to drive. Good luck to those who are leaning, you CAN DO IT!

In this day and age with power steering I still don't understand the need to feed the wheel through your hands. That should have gone out with the ark. That was OK in the days when there was no power steering and you needed a bit of strength also the steering on a lot of old cars was worm gear rather than rack and pinion. I saw someone a few weeks back struggle to get round a corner because they were feeding the wheel through their hands. It looked like someone not long through their test. Clipped the kerb twice because of it too. I passed my test first time in 1975 and the first thing I did was drop the feed through the hands. No accidents and still have a clean licence.

@@ChrisAndCats I think it's more that 10 to 2 is a natural position for most people. When I passed my test in 1975 PAS wasn't a thing and steering wheels tended to be big. Fine if you were a man and had the strength to feed the wheel through your hands as you were taught - much harder for small women like myself so as soon as I passed my test, the feeding went out the window and I crossed my hands. So much easier. Seems to be a relic from the past they've held on to. Remember when brakes weren't servo assisted? You literally had to jump on the brake pedal to do an emergency stop and if you had air in the system had to pump the brake pedal like mad. I once had total brake failure in a Morris Minor. Not something I'd like to repeat but no harm was done except I shook like a leaf for a while. I cringe when I think of the deathtraps I drove as a young driver but I'm still here to tell the tale.

@ChrisAndCats
@ChrisAndCats Жыл бұрын
Driving in the left to me makes more sense - not just because that's what I've learned/am used to, but because the majority of people are right handed, therefore it makes more sense to me for the driver to be on the right side of the vehicke, to hold the steering wheel with the dominant/right hand and change gear with the left, non dominant hand. Changing gear the other way round feels all kinds of wrong to me for that reason! With regards to roundabouts, they're pretty easy. You always give way to traffic from the right (unless they're traffic light controlled and say otherwise). Generally, you're in the left lane to turn left, left or middle lane where there is one for straight on, and right lane for turning right. Where there's a 2 lane approach and exit, you can follow round in both lanes.

On USA roundabouts just give way to cars already on the roundabout or ones to the left of you, go around the roundabout until you get to your exit. It helps to think of them as a normal junction but instead you have to go in a circle... I haven't seen any double or more lane roundabouts in USA so I'm not gonna bother explaining that

Wish me good luck, I'm having a 1st try with state practical exam on Thursday. The only thing I have to focus on is observation, observation, and once more observation. If not the instructor I posed the danger to 10+ pedestrians over 30 hours of learning and probably 6 cars because of my wrong decision making (I've done decisions, but I've done wrong ones). Remember, I'm passing it in Poland because it's obvious, I'm a Pole. I hope I don't mess up, I want to surprise my mom. Btw British roundabouts infrastructure and streetlights positioning looks so odd... OK, in Poland it's not great either, but our infrastructure looks so intuitive... Edit: Hell yeah, passed the 1st time, but only because of good examiner. He stopped the car when I was about to hit a pole on the curve on manuevers square. Also he passed my parking despite it being not the best. Seriously, even infrastructure wanted to fail me. Construction sites, hedges and I was scared he'd count some actions (like left lane driving) as equivalents of British minor faults.
