Take a drive up to Mount St. Helens in Washington State. This video shows just how much of the mountain you can see from State Highway 504 in the summer of 2023. This is just after the road closure of May 2023 due to a landslide near milepost 51. Johnston Ridge Observatory is not reachable because the road is closed at milepost 43. This video will show you that indeed the mountain is out and worth the drive on a clear day to see the landscape, crater (blast zone) and Toutle River Valley. Prior to your visit check to see if the Mt. St. Helens Visitor Center and the Mt. St. Helens Forest Learning Center are open to visitors. Pack a picnic and enjoy learning about the recent history of this beautiful volcano and rebirth of the ecosystem since the May 18, 1980 eruption of Mt St. Helens.
