Can absolutely confirm upping protein and fiber (plant powder shakes with superfoods) were the missing ingredient in my journey of mostly only working out... kinda maybe (not really) cutting calories. The protein and fiber WERE deficient and the system seems to be back on track with better workouts, sleep, reduced cravings, and seeing results in the mirror. Carb cravings basically gone with consistent protein and fiber shakes. Junk and snack cravings, gone. Strangely so, didn't expect that to work so well. Insulin grogginess, cleared significantly. Still eating meats and mostly dinner as the biggest meal but I'm not as hungry and feel genuinely more satisfied from less and I've been a heavy processed carbs snacker for awhile. Zero Ozempic. If you're on the fence, perhaps focus the money on a bullet blender, quality plant protein and fiber shake powders, frozen broccoli (5g fiber/protein a cup) and dark cherries (reduce inflammation, sleep improvement) - some taste fantastic too. I can respect there might be extreme cases for Ozempic but natural options are indeed worth exploring too if feasible.

@Astral_Dusk Thanks totally agree with you I don't like to hear about that evil ozempic drug again it destroyed my health organs so bad ended up in hospital for 2 years in and out of the hospital without results just worse everytime, until I stopped the ozempic, the side effects lasted a whole year and something as l fight it. And when l started what you have mentioned this year I am starting to lose weight naturally.

@@modelsupplies thank you. I’m 51 and I’m gained so much weight this last year from menapause. I just want healthy solutions that are not going to be bandaids but life changes. Hormones have been checked, sleeping good at night. Joints are bothering me, knee hurts. I’ve been doing slow workouts and trying my best to walk as much as I can. I’m on supplements. I eat pretty fair. And know it’s all about nutrition. Keto I’m concerned because I have to watch my cholesterol and heart. Not sure if that is a good choice. But I’m hopeful and just keep taking one day at a time and don’t let it consume me.

I agree. That 18/6 window works for me as well. I’ve kept the weight off for over a year. I’m now off of meds can you believe? Doctor was supportive of what I’m doing he just said not many can do it. But I didn’t want my parents and family issues and I can’t do the calorie thing. This works and I’ve met people in their 80s who have been doing this their whole life but they didn’t know what they were doing. And of course they are incredibly fit. I do 5-7 miles at 6 pm 6 hours after my last meal. I never gain a pound now. And I look incredible. No more diets. This has been life changing. I know it’s a cliche but it’s true.

Dr. Fung, you have changed and simplified my life. I have just started intermittent fasting about 5 weeks ago, have watched most of your videos and actually found out that this is exactly how my body wants to eat. I had about 25 pounds that I would like to drop and I am actually down 10 already. I am looking forward to seeing where my weight settles, but I see this as a permanent lifestyle change for me, and I don't have an actual weight goal. If I meet friends for lunch and eat more than usual, I just make that my one meal for the day. I love not having to worry about calories, carbs or counting anything. The 18:6 window works perfectly for me and I am very rigid about that. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Great, channel Dr. Jung. There is so much disinformation on KZfaq. Really enjoying listening to you ☺️. I am having a harder time keeping my normal weight as I get older. I am not diabetic and don’t ever want to be. I don’t want to go on some goofy guru diet…just common sense. I have always eaten in a very health conscious way, just need a little tweeking I think. So,thank you for all you do here.

Celery and chard have lots of fiber. My two favorite keto veggies. I've said many times, there are natural, better ways than GLP1 inhibitors.

@@nancycy9039 yes, slice the bitter melon thinly as desired, then saute them with some shallots, then pour your eggs in when ready. It's a traditional Filipino dish, and I love it! I hope you enjoy it

Bitter melon with fatty pork is a classic recipe I’ve gotten fond of. But though I live in south-ish Florida I have a lot of trouble buying any, and I don’t have anywhere to grow it either.
