My grandma collected depression glass for years. When she passed away my aunts counted 90 boxes of glass. She collected sets , and knew which ones were valued as which.

Fairly new to your channel. While downsizing, I have found an incredible amount of "collectable and vintage pieces of ceramic, porcelain, glass, porcelain figurines, jewelry, paintings" that amazingly were bought at a time just because either I or my husband liked them. Funny how things become vintage and collectable. Great channel for information on valuable "stuff". Thank you.

Aloha Dr. Lori! How do you determine if something is made from leather or not? Faux leather nowadays is made so well, it’s difficult to tell the difference and sometimes the smell is no longer there.

Hi Dr. Lori!!! I inherited a first addition of Charlotte’s Web, from my Great Aunt about 30 yrs ago!!! I have given it to my daughter who is now 38 yrs old & she had it up on a shelf, inside of a collector’s glass case but, the paper cover over the hard copy book, the colors are fading… What we want to know is if, the paper cover fading will harm it’s value of the book??? The book itself is in perfect condition, it’s just the paper cover fading, is our concern!!! And other than putting the book away in a dark place, do you have any other suggestions on how to keep it from fading even more??? I also inherited a first addition, of Raggedy Ann, also from the same Aunt too but, I keep it in a dresser draw… Both books, my Aunt gave me before she passed in 1990, at 90 yrs old… Actually, I have inherited so many things like artwork from her fellow artist’s, who would give one of their pieces as gift’s to their fellow artist’s!!! My Aunt was a well known artist herself & I inherited a lot of her paintings plus, those paintings from her artist friends!!! I also have inherited a lot of her antiques including, two Delft artist’s ginger jar lamps, he made for his wife as an anniversary gift & my Aunt brought them in Paris, back in the early 1900’s from an antique shop in France… Each lamp will now be inherited by each of my two daughter’s, when I pass one day… I also inherited a early Japanned early wedding chest, that she also brought in France, at an antique shop in the early 1900’s, too!!! I had it appraised 30 yrs ago & was told it was over 300 yrs old & worth $150,00 back then!!! I would love to send you a picture of that chest because, it’s amazing!!! My Aunt was very wealthy, had a home in Roslyn, NY & her flat in Paris plus, she was best friends with her friend Gabby, who I remember going to the Russian Tea Room with my Aunt & Gabby, when I was 5 yrs old… And came to find out latter in life, that my Aunts best friend was Coco Chanel!!! And, I was a pen pal with Gabby’s Great Niece, for 4 yrs when I was a young girl after she came to my Aunts home in Roslyn on Long Island, NY & we wrote back & forth as young girls!!! I have been fortunate to have inherited so many wonder things, including artwork & antique’s from my Aunt but, too many to ask you about… LOL… I would have to invite you to my home for lunch or dinner, to spend a lot of time, to see everything in my home, that are incredible pieces!!! Please no no Lori on the goodwill .. I love going to Goodwill and finding a beautiful piece of glass or crystal I'm on a fixed income and have to watch what I spend ..no I'm not a reseller I buy what I love because I'm going to keep it until the good Lord comes after me ..
