realistically speaking, the only two reasons why the Separatist droid army failed is because the Republic had monks who could disassemble entire armies with their mind, and because the CIS was lead on by the Republic's leader who could turn the droids off with the press of a button at any point convenient to him

Dooku was Palpatine's stooge in the CIS and deliberately held back the Separatists. Had Dooku died early in the Clone Wars it would likely Grevious would have taken control and less liable to submit to Palpatine, Grevious would have taken advantage of the vastly superior CIS production capabilities and simply overwhelmed the Republic far larger masses of droid forces than what was in canon

Well consider the sheer cost of production as well as extreme tactical and strategic inflexibility. Plus... look at modern AI. Would you rally trust it to command a squad, let alone an entire instellar army and navy? Hell, for it to have any competency in strategy games, it needs an extraordinary amount of cheats.

I always imagined the B1 droids were better fit for logistics like aboard warship, tanks, artillery or just plain rear jobs to increase the number of organic troops to the front, while the heavy armed droids would be the infantry. I would imagine that the Sentry Bot from Fallout would be the most realistic and reliable for heavy droids
@matthiuskoenig3378
@matthiuskoenig3378 3 ай бұрын
The heavy armoured droids don't actually show an increase in survivability. They are a waste of resources. B1s are superior infantry. Just as easily killed. But more compact meaning you can deploy more of them faster. Aswell as lighter meaning they don't get bogged down as easily. Organics on the frontline if you have that level of robotics should be limited to commanders.

@@matthiuskoenig3378 granted but as stated we are not at a technological level to mass produce B1’s which would require better production and better manufacturing. Currently not available! So special droids or Robots are needed given the cost and level of manufacturing would need greater durability to justify the cost to produce, hence why if needed a front line droid in current level of production and manufacturing you would need heavy droids for combat roles if this is the desired purpose. Over all the B1 in the modern era would be better in the logistical area than front line’s

@@matthiuskoenig3378 It has been loosely stated before but I am going to disagree with you on the B1s. They are great if you want to swarm an opponent, sure. Individually, they are ad good as a handful of dirt. Given that the CIS was restrained by Dooku and didn't actually commit its full strength to the front lines, we can't really use the events of the TV series or the movies as accurate representation to the Droid Army's full capabilities. Simply because their efficiency was never capitalized on to begin with. If we were to play the hypothetical game here and consider a crossover of Droid units in the Real World with the goal to reach a similar military structure to the CIS or Trade Federation as shown in Star Wars, there are a few changes I would 100% make. 1. Replace the B1 with the B2 as the standard infantry unit. 2. Reserve B1s for logistics crew and a dedicated "swarm" division. 3. Upgrade the Programing of every unit to be able to act and work independently with a condition that if an Officer or higher level command unit or organic was present, default to following directed orders first and then accommodate as needed thereafter. Personally, I would aim to equip and arm the B2s in a similar fashion to Mandalorians. A Mandalorian's gear (as pointed out in Rebels) is often equipped with several gadgets that are more effective against Jedi. Or sith for that matter. The Mando's had fought both factions several times through history and learned how to fight them. Having them Equipped accordingly and able to think independently, to be, would make them far more terrifying than what we got. Story Time: (Just for fun) I did a Clone Wars D&D game with some friends a while back and we put a lot of this into practice in the campaign and usurped Palpatine. Started with making a contract with Deathwatch in exchange for helping them reclaim Manadlor we got shipments of Beskar. Changed out the B2s armor with Beskar plating and armed the B2 with a similar set of Mando equipment. Spent 4 sessions hunting down an AI Developer and recruited their services to upgrade the indipendant thinking of the B2 to be more adaptable on the battlefield. Really it was not even AI in a true sense. They could observe and digest the battlefield on their own and alter their actions to do their best to best serve the campaign effort, but were otherwise completely subject to being organized by an officer. Officers in the campaign were living beings. Tactical officers who we taught to worry less about the finight objectives and just focus on the global objectives. The droids could handle the small battlefield changes on their own without micromanagement. The officer's job was to make sure they guided their forces in the necessary direction to achieve our global objectives. We kept the B1s around but mostly only as crew to support the lack of living service members. (We got cut off from the CIS after Dooku found out about some of the BS we were pulling, specifically having an issue when we ignored his orders and proceeded to work with Deathwatch without his approval. Long story short, we were listed as MIA for about 20 sessions until he found us) The remaining B1s we could keep were placed in dedicated "swarm" companies we named "hives". Their whole intent was basically the traditional CIS/TF strat of swarm them until they die. But they were more or less our cannon fodder when we had to retreat. The problem the B1s posed was a severe drop in performance when not in large groups. So we swapped out security forces to Grevious's Magna Guards but altered their equipment too. Grievous ended up joining us because Dooku kept pissing him off. Anyway, point is... We reorganized the whole CIS Army and rebuilt it almost from the ground up. And it worked. In the campaign our DM said that once we started to make a presense it was going to alter the war. Dooku stopped restraining the CIS after some time in an effort to counter our little "revolt" if you will and Palpatine was getting irritated with Dooku that we even got away with some of this under his watch. All of which was my fault as I was the one who had used personal assets to ensure we could get away with it for the early run. It was a fun 3 year campaign that we all enjoyed but it also really showed how lacking the CIS was.

The droid army from Star wars would lowkey be terrifying in modern times. In canon basic b1 battle droids are stated to have somewhere around a 37% kill rate. And these things are so cheap they can be made in a matter of minutes and cost only around 1 thousand US dollars to make . Not only that Autonomous droid factories can be set up on barren planets in month. Churning out billions of droids over the course of the war. If it wasn't purposely made to loose the droid army would have dominated the republic

🤔 . . . In my own respects, the 1st Robots, primarily of the B1 variety as you have described, would act in logistical support roles. The primary reasons for this is for field testing & such. For example, Foldable B1s would be loaded onto fire trucks, or equally equivalent vehicles, & will be deployed into burning buildings to perform rescue operations, pulling people & other important stuff, out of the burning building. Hence, there’ll be others who’ll assist troops with maintenance, construction, carrying the wounded off the front lines, & more. While doing these tasks, they’ll observe exactly how soldiers fight, & store that observational data so it’ll be loaded onto combat focused droids, i.e. the B2s & such…

B2s suck though. No increase in survivability despite more more, more limited weapons, inferior sitauitonal awareness due to poor positioning of sensors. Bulkier meaning it harder to deploy them. They just suck.

Oh boy, you don’t know how we work, @@matthiuskoenig3378: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7B0lZSp0bvJlok.html&si=1Z94mKh65P6OAN-t Of course we’re going to make 1:1 B2s; there’ll be huge differences due to the availability of materials & to ensure the success of individual missions. I, for one, would combine war bots with organic soldiers to fill in specific battlefields niches. Moreover, likely in early battlefields, the verbal order to stand down due to a surrendering enemy, or even if its just a kid running out with a kitchen knife ( _ROBOCOP_ remake), would help the bots learn & act accordingly later. They’ll even adapt based on nationality as well.

@@matthiuskoenig3378 they would probably have superior resistance to our bullets if they were to exist since you need a blaster to pierce any form of armor in star wars so they wouldn't be all that bad, just need to adjust the sensors I suppose and you can probably air drop them or something like they do with those droid gunship thingies plus they still have normal functioning hands so if they have a blaster malfunction then they can just pick up an enemy rifle for themselves.

Fast four legged robots with light guns but firing cheap rounds with computer targeting could hit weak targets that could out maneuver humans. Flying drones for support and viewing targets could be target spotters for robot artillery if not flying mini bombers for chemical or bio weapons to small nukes. AI robot control centers may be made with mobile quantum computers to control robot armies.

I think the point of making robotic units for battle are ment to be cheap and expendable I assume they would add a targeting chip to a hand and a robot body of some kind and just let it lose we can technically do this but thoes chips are expensive at would be better if we had someone controlling the Droid like a turret we have these but letting the robot work on its own well now that programing will be complicated very complicated.

The separatists droids had only 2 major flaws, the first and major being that the majority of the separatists decided to go with the cheapest options for programming(a reoccurring flaw as we see in many of the shows and movies) and material quality in some cases(as seen in republic commando books). The second issue being they were never meant to win so understandably they wouldn’t be made the best they could be(and the whole army had a shut down code just in case)

Giving them better materials and programming goes against the point of the battle droids, the average droid is supposed to be a cheap and disposable unit thats good enough at shooting and following orders and can be easily replaced unless it's something like a commando or special forces units
