There's nothing like a drone video to travel the world from the comfort of your own sofa. Beautiful caption! Greetings from the opposite side of the world, Brisbane Australia :)

What a beautiful place, in winter all white and in summer so colorful.

Alex Ruan: I tried to download it to keep in my video library. But it did not come. I tried by download manager. How shall I can do it. Are you from Longyearbyen ?

Hi., really nice video you have., we have a trip in Longyearbyen this July., any recommendation of the places that we can go and see? 😊
@alexruan1006 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow response. We were in another remote part of the world for the past 2.5 weeks. Thanks for your kind words. Svalbard, even in July, is affected by weather. We booked with Better Moments and they were quite good. However, our excursion with them to see the walrus Prins Karls Forland was canceled for 5 straight days prior to our trip, due to high wind/waves. We were very lucky. So it all comes down to mother nature. You can get a good idea on what trips are available via their website. I wish you a great trip and even greater weather.

Awesome drone view of the the valley, much better than google map street view. @alexruan100, did you get permission to fly the drone in pink zone? Information center said it isn't allowed
@alexruan1005 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. I did not ask nor was I aware of the fact that I needed to ask for permission. The airport was close to the city but it was a no fly zone like it should.

Mark, I appreciate your kind words. I was clearly lucky with the weather and my Phantom 4 Pro held up in the wind extremely well.

The difference between a Norwegian community and an American one... only one church and it's not in the center of town... definitely not an American settlement. As an American, I find that refreshing.

Where did you get the permit for flying? It's illegal so close to the airport.

i cannot help but wonder what they do for fun. hike where there's no trees ?? ski where there's no seat lift ? swim where the water is always cold ? i guess the only thing is stay home warm, play video games and drink or use drugs
@PanZerV5 жыл бұрын
Theres too cold for trees to grow there

Hiking can be fun in mountains and tundra. Also hunting and fishing have potential to enhance the hiking experience. Winter fun can be cross-country skiing.

In the winter maybe...but in the summer people go out at all hours in the day because of 24 hours of sunlight

I can think of a few things: Hiking in glaciers, mountains, tundra. Boating Fishing Hunting Snowmobile trips Sounds ore fun than your typical suburban american neighbourhood

This is one of the stupidest things I have seen. So close to the airports approach path. What do you think would happen if your drone hit the wing of an aircraft coming in at 160 knots to land?
@alexruan1004 жыл бұрын
Edward, I am cool with your righteous anger, but it is also important to get your facts before you voice your opinion. The Svalbard airport has a GPS grid no-fly zone that my non-altered drone cannot enter. The run is in a east-west configuration so I was well outside of the no-fly zone even though I was close to the runway at the orthogonal angle.
@edwardkjellen10204 жыл бұрын
Alex Ruan apart from GPS based no fly zones there are other regulations aswell that applies to you as a drone pilot. It is forbidden to fly within 5km of an airport without permission from the local ATS unit (air traffic controller). I guess this was something you did not have since we come in with aircraft right to the north of Longyearbyen, through the vallet when we are on approach to runway 28 at ENSB. They would never approve that.
