Footage released by Saudi Arabian aerial photography company Ot Sky shows work commencing on The Line megacity, which is being built as part of the Neom development.
The drone footage shot by Ot Sky shows construction underway on the linear city, which is being built in the north west of Saudi Arabia.
In the video, numerous excavators can be seen digging a wide linear trench in the desert. Within the trench, foundations for the city, which is planned to be 170 kilometres long, are expected to be built.

Greed is the issue when it comes to natural resources. Their solution? Pack 100's of thousands of humans into one long tunnel of apartments and market it as "sustainable." While the people who own this thing will still be in their billion dollar mansions flying to and fro in their jets. I see it as a prison. 2. Dystopian: 'relating to or denoting an imagined state or society where there is great suffering or injustice.' Most of the design is predicated on contemporary and niave notions about sustainability and liveability. This thing is going to bisect, disrupt and ultimately destroy numerous ecosystems that are interdependent. The economic and political turmoil that would result from a half a trillion dollars, or 70% of the country's GDP, or 83x their annual tourism revenue,,being funneled into such a narrow set of economic purposes would surely lead to dire economic and political consequences. Don't forget that a Saudi court, the same court that prosecutes, convicts and executes human rights activists as terrorists with frightening alacrity, quietly sentenced 3 people who refused to leave their homes and ancestral land to make way for this vanity project, to death. The crown price also had an outspoken brother of one of those men shot dead by Saudi special forces. The fact that the visible face of this whole grotesque project is a mirror is insanely ironic.

@@jrjubach well, the region that’s NEOM is in gets snowy in winter just so you know, it’s not like what you think and although it’s a costly region the humidity isn’t anything near like Jeddah and Dubai.. and about the food and water idk where you get that information from but I’m sure it’s not based on facts because my father used to go hunting there in Alula long ago which is in the same region of NEOM before it became tourist destination.. In October 2022, Shadli, Ibrahim, and Ataullah al-Huwaiti, of the Howeitat tribe, were sentenced to death when they refused to vacate their village as part of the NEOM megaproject. Shadli al-Huwaiti was the brother of Abdul Rahim al-Huwaiti, who was shot dead by security forces in April 2020 in his home in Al-Khariba, in the part of Tabuk province earmarked for NEOM, after he posted videos on social media opposing the displacement of local residents to make way for the project.
