"The US will do the right thing after exhausting every other possibility" I think Churchill said that, unfortunately it's still true.

It's a very serious threat, not just in theater, but at home. It is very easy to accumulate an overwhelming force of drones inside a target nation as a first strike to initiate war. Just rent some real estate in an area of interest and accumulate drones right around the air force bases and fuel depots that you'd like to cripple like a new kind of Pearl Harbor attack. It's a super cheap deep strike attack that doesn't even leave clear evidence as to who initiated the attack because the things could be configured to launch and fly autonomously. In the aftermath you'd find out that some shell companies acquired the real estate through some money brokered through crypto currency or some little credit union bank. The potential for attacks go up when the cost of attack gets really cheap, the impact gets really expensive, and you can escape blame. With drone swarms, staged inside a nation you want to hit, all three are true.

Gonky said the magic words " I digress'. Perhaps you should check out Ron Rogers? Great stories from him about his Air Force, Test pilot and airline career. He's even got Tee shirts!🙂 👍👍🇬🇧

Raytheon has a 50KW laser that looks to be deployable on a LAV. Plus there are serious microwave emitter capabilities for soft kill. Once these hit their test requirements they will likely be acquired rapidly for bases and indopac expeditionary forces. Task and Purpose had a Raytheon sponsored video a few months ago about the vehicle mounted 50kW device

Drone swarms at incoming fighters makes a bird strike a fading blip on a radar. This could be a new tactic against a conventual response. How would an F-18 get through a drone swarm to reach an i ntended target?

The JCO at the pentagon is on this. There are capabilities out there, we just don’t have the manning resources to staff it… like everything else

Emitters. Sound, Lazer or ECM jamming. Its just a question of how BIG and what do you remove/replace (if we're talking ships; land-based? Just Emanate Domain if you lack land) to install such 'weapons'...

How about a Mesh networked swarm of defensive drones? Especially around vital infrastructure. Missiles are not the answer, and ECW is good but extremely expensive.

For some reason I would have thought that the US military would have sorted this out a *long* time ago.

Miniaturized A2A weapons, slightly scaled up gyrojet + the EXACTO laser guided .50 cal round, although would need a designator on the launching drone.

Australia is already ahead in all this . have many drone swarm capable AI drones even USA military and UK use and some of these were given to Ukraine and have seen one fly in to a Russian tank hatch and blow it up. Also Australia has few anti drone systems one is seen during a Brazilian president event, a huge weird gun looking thing also given to Ukraine. another is a system deployed on back of pick up trucks that an disable drones via electronic warfare. another is Slinger a gun mounted on a pick up truck and have a laser weapon that is never seen but will be in Canada this year being displayed to their officials and are some US officials also taking part in the demonstration..

@@NikoMoraKamu I guess that's always been a problem in warfare, I don't think this has been a surprise to the development and research people and I would be surprised they've not got systems already but they're not public knowledge.

some CRAM systems such as Oerlikon Millennium gun , or Turkey 's Aselsan GOKDENIZ can fire programmable fragmentation rounds that hit multiple targets within a radius. It is a short range defense less than 4 km . I think more testing and fine tuning is needed .

@@JagdgeschwaderX Currently there are public systems that serve to counter small DIY drones, these drones operate on amateur radio frequencies with very little or no security and can be countered with relatively simple and cheap equipment, the disadvantage of these systems is that they can also influence your ability to operate aircraft on the same frequencies. Apart from electronic defense, I believe that some type of CIWS will be necessary to protect personnel and equipment in areas where these drones could be dangerous, something like a radar shotgun.
