Hometown of Earl Hamner, Jr. In this clip, we show the close knit community of the Original Hamner House, John & Olivia's Bed & Breakfast Inn, Waltons Mountain Museum & Schuyler Baptist Church. Earl Hamner Jr. created the beloved TV Series The Waltons starring Richard Thomas as John Boy Kami Cotler as Elizabeth Judy Norton as Mary Ellen Jon Walmsey as Jason Eric Scott as Ben David Harper as Jim Bob Mary McDonough as Erin and of course Ralph Waite as John and Michael Learned as Olivia. I've lived my whole life living here in the urban/suburban San Francisco Bay Area. I love living here but have always envied those living in a very small peaceful tight knit type town. A kind of Mayberry appeal I suppose. Anybody else ?

I am 59 and at this moment I am fully addicted to "The Waltons"! I was blessed to grow up in the birthplace of America..Lexington,Mass. As I suspect it may have been similar in charm 100 years ago. However now the show evokes so many childhood memories. Thanks!

Lovely... I can hear the whipper willow calling me...👍🥰 I especially, love the church. Reminds me of the hymn...THE CHURCH IN WILDWOOD..OR WHEN ROLE IN CALLED UP YONDER...I WILL BE THERE.

I wonder what this area around the Hamner home looked like during the depression. In the series the Walton home seemed isolated with no really close neighbors. I imagined a walk to Ike Godsey's General Merchandise Store took a good thirty or forty minutes .

I would move to this town today if there was any work. Houses there are so cheap, a 200k house in this area would cost me 2 million here in CA, plus this state is just terrible to live in

Most older homes in the south have tin roofs. New homes as well as they are less expensive and hold up better then singles.
