Run to a good attorney! Borrow the $$$ if you have to! I was married to an abuser - at the age of 53 I had to call my father for $$$ (my ex wanted me ‘to stay home, the kids and I need you!🙄) as I had no income. I was humiliated to have to call my father. He came through big time.❤️. My attorney’s fee, at that time was $400/hr. There was a pre/nuptial (written by my ex) in play. I walked with 1/2 the proceeds of the sale of the home-enough to get my footing-and shared custody of the children except for 1 who refused to spend 50% of her time with him. It took about 2 years of counseling, an extremely Competent Attorney who was a tiny little woman to never cower to this 6’2” narcissist! Haven’t dated since I drove away from that ‘dream home’-more like a house of horrors!

He lacks remorse. He has no regard for right or wrong. He lies and blame shifts. He takes no accountability for his actions. He is violent and threatening. Symptoms Symptoms of antisocial personality disorder include repeatedly: Ignoring right and wrong. Telling lies to take advantage of others. Not being sensitive to or respectful of others. Using charm or wit to manipulate others for personal gain or pleasure. Having a sense of superiority and being extremely opinionated. Having problems with the law, including criminal behavior. Being hostile, aggressive, violent or threatening to others. Feeling no guilt about harming others. Doing dangerous things with no regard for the safety of self or others. Dr Phil mentioned "annulment." You can bet the next phone call that he will make is to his lawyer to get that process rolling. He is going to try and hold on to the daughter. The $100.00 a month for child support was just to give her another slap. I do volunteer work at a charity shop. We had a customer come in on Sundays and she had left her (cashed up) husband and taken the two preschool aged daughters as hubby was very abusive. She was the primary caregiver and her parents had babysat the girls two days a week whilst she went to work at a part time job. Sadly, in the process of getting the divorce she had borrowed money from her parents (and they cannot help her anymore financially) and had taken out a special loan for women who are trying to get divorced (this is in Australia) and she had reached the maximum loan amount before the final proceedings. She told us that she was thinking that she might have to represent herself in the final proceedings. Ex hubby wanted full custody of the girls and that they would go into full time day care. When he would be travelling for work HIS parents would be looking after them. He was going after her for child support and he was going to limit access to her. She told my manager and myself that even is they got a fair divorce and she would get half of his assets that it would all go back to paying off the loans to get the divorce. She had been paying 20% interest to this special loan for desperate women. She told us she did not qualify for legal aid as she worked two days a week. She told us that the only thing keeping her sane at the time was working the two days a week. We told her to apply for assistance through the organisation that we work at. One time that we did see her was at Christmas time and she bought her daughter's Christmas presents. Her parents paid for one of her daughter's birthday party. Early on in the piece she bought a framed painting for her daughter's bedroom. It was signed. I told her to do some research and find out how much it was worth. It might help with the $$$. This was a university educated woman who had a total mind F by her husband. We have not seen her since January.

However, she left and kept coming back for more, not once, twice, but 3 times. Divorced the jerk, then remarried the jerk and put their children in the same toxic environment again. That doesn’t show she’s intelligent or a caring mother. She got no common sense whatsoever. To me, she got no backbone or courage to protect herself or the children. She knew in her heart of heart that she got a scumbag but has no strength to be on her own or do the hard work. She was hoping Dr. Phil’d wave the magic wand and fix her bad choice for her.

Even with training, I have heard that on average it takes a minimum IQ of about 120 to understand the typical legal document. So with all due respect, she is an absolute fool if she believes it is her responsibility to read the agreement. She made a common mistake in the past of believing her husband when he said the lawyer was representing both parties. I'll give her a pass for the past for making that mistake, but she doesn't get a pass if she makes that mistake again. Her responsibility is to HIRE A LAWYER and have the LAWYER read the agreement and explain both what the agreement means and also what legal alternatives she can explore if she doesn't want to sign the agreement.

@hollybigelow5337
@hollybigelow5337 Ай бұрын
@@user-xk3fd9yi4x Oh, I’m convinced there was a lawyer. And you are right that it was the husband who lied. My big question is 1) did the lawyer know or at least have good reason to suspect the husband was going to lie and say the lawyer was representing both people, 2) did the lawyer potentially actually suggest that as a possible strategy, and 3) even if he didn’t know about the husband’s lies, did he have enough indication that he knew or should have known the wife thought he was representing her as well? I don’t know the facts of the case well enough to judge. It’s entirely possible the lawyer was genuinely completely clueless on that part. But while it is a lawyer’s duty to advocate on behalf of their client, another almost equally important duty of every lawyer is to clearly communicate that a person is not their client if there is any possible reasonable expectation on someone’s part that the lawyer is representing them. The fact that she erroneously believed the lawyer was representing her, too, is pretty scary for the lawyer. I wouldn’t pronounce the lawyer immediately guilty, but I would say the burden of proof is now on the lawyer to prove he didn’t know or suspect she believed that and also couldn’t have reasonably known that. Tricking someone into signing a contract that greatly benefits your client is a bit distasteful, but it is common practice. Doing so while the person signing the contract believes they are your client quickly turns into malpractice.

It's the hardest thing I ever had to do but it was for the right reason. My husband did not get along with my son from a prior relationship. He was only 4 when we got together but we did not move in together until he was 9. I had my own home and was taking care of him very well on my own but I was in love and we decided to buy a home after 5 years together and get married. After 2 years of living together and seeing how he treated my son I could not allow it to continue. He was abusive and lied about how he was punishing him. It was so hard to understand why he treated him like that. He was a really good kid. Never got in trouble. No breaking the law. Nothing. But in the end I chose my son over my husband. It darn near killed me but it was the right thing to do. I loved him more than I ever thought I could love a man. He was my best friend. We had the most amazing relationship. But he hated kids and it was only obvious when we moved in together. Still hurts to this day but my son was number 1 then and he still is to this day.

She doesn't deserve someone else's money. I am so baffled at some women's feelings of entitlement. Does she deserve to be away from him? Yes. He does not owe her anything. Your statement is an example of why most men choose to never marry and not even commit. Him having major flaws does NOT make her entitled to HIS money, just as he is NOT entitled to half of HER money. Some women have a bizarre ability to feel entitled to what isn't theirs and have no guilt nor shame, and yes, she is probably plotting to steal his wealth. Many women do exactly that. In fact, many women marry and divorce for profit.
