Varicocele Grading On Color Doppler Ultrasound | Grade 1-5 Varicocele | Scrotum & Testis USG

Grade 1 - 0:00
Grade 2 - 4:21
Grade 3 - 7:41
Grade 4 - 11:37
Grade 5 - 13:00
Grade 1:
- No dilated veins present in scrotum
- Reflux seen in dilated inguinal canal spermatic cord veins during Valsalva Maneuver
Grade 2:
- Dilated Veins at the upper pole of the testis
- Reflux during Valsalva maneuver
- Increased diameter of veins
Grade 3:
- Dilated veins at the inferior pole of testis while standing
- No dilated veins in supine position at the inferior pole of testis
- Reflux during Valsalva maneuver
Grade 4:
- Dilated veins showing reflux even at rest and in supine position
- Diameter more than 3 mm
- Reflux is increased during Valsalva maneuver
Grade 5:
- Large reflux is seen in dilated veins
- Veins achieve maximum possible diameter even at rest
- Diameter: 4-5mm or greater
- The veins have maximum diameter which does not increase even with Valsalva maneuver.

Dr Sam, nice presentation. Have a question about the image at 11:23 . The flow at rest and valsalva is both in same direction. I feel we should not call it reflux. Rather flow gets accentuated. What do u think

Thanks for watching! The flow at rest has 0 flow as well. The reversal becomes more evident during valsalva maneuver. It is more clear when you perform it in real time.

Sir if valsalva maneuver is not performed properly tge grade 2 vericocele is non detectable?? Or reflux will not be visible?
