Let’s dive into a hot topic that has been making waves in social media and mainstream media lately -GLP 1 Agonists, aka. Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Semaglutide and Tirzepatide. As a medical professional, I’ve spent significant time researching these GLP-1 agonists that are being used for type 2 diabetes and weight loss. Listen in as I explore the controversies, misconceptions, and benefits surrounding these drugs, which I personally believe can be miracle drugs when used appropriately.

Im 56 and took Mounjaro for only 2 months in 2022 to lose 20 stubborn menopause lbs. I have lifted weights and worked out consistent for 35 plus years. I lost 25 lbs in 2 months, no side effects, reset my “set point” and have kept it off for a year and 1/2. You HAVE to increase your protein intake and exercise WHILE TAKING THESE SHOTS. I feel amazing! 123 lbs with lean muscle and my metabolism is kicking! Thank you for this video!!!!!

Thank you! This is what I want to know. Getting ready to start down this path for the same reason. I gained 20 perimenopause lbs and it will not budge! My plan of attack was to prioritize protein and good fiber rich whole plant foods and weight train. Your experience seems healthy and reasonable. I'm excited. I already exercise and weight train but this weight is just so stubborn.

I’m 61 and have been taking Ozempic for 6 months and have lost 50 lbs. I m type 2 diabetic, obese, high blood pressure for years, and have a lot of blockage in one of my arteries. I am supposed to see my cardiologist next week about it. I was told Ozempic won’t decrease my blockage but that it keeps it from getting any worse, which was the reason my insurance covers it. But it still costs me about $280 a month taking 1 mg weekly. I’ve been on 1 mg for about 2-3 months and really hope to stay there since it costs so much and I prefer not increasing it. It still keeps my appetite in check. I have given up alcohol, breads, rice, potatos, greasy or fried foods, processed foods and sugar. I’m very careful with my sugar and unhealthy carbs intake. My numbers are very good now and I feel it has helped me to get back to seeing and wanting good Whole Foods and resist the bad foods because the food noise is gone now. I still need to lose a good 50 pounds or slightly more maybe. I think it’s not right that we have to feel ashamed taking this medicine. Once you have lost some weight, people start asking how and it’s like you finally feel okay getting your picture taken with family but then you know people are going to see you have changed and start their opinions, which I don’t want to hear right now. Sometimes you have to be your own doctor and make choices best for you, but I definitely think you should be supervised by a doctor the whole way and get your blood work done during it.

I do find it difficult to eat beef and have had to learn what my stomach can handle. Some might handle it okand I try to eat a little once in a great while because I know I should. I eat a lot of chicken and seafood and pork, and nuts and also found a good protein shake for breakfast because in the morning I am nauseous and can’t eat but can handle the shake and help get my protein up. Eggs and nuts are great too so I’ve learned what my stomach handles and at first I was getting so nauseous and even vomiting because Iwas still not eating what I should on this medicine and it took me a bit to really learn about all the hidden sugars and carbs in some of the things I was eating.

@@user-mv4bm6qz4c I was sick and still sometimes get queasy but not as bad. It took me awhile to figure out what I could and couldn’t eat that would make me sick on this medicine. I can’t eat greasy foods. Even beef can be too greasy and I only eat a little sometimes. If I eat too much, I have digestion problems. You are better having smaller meals that are easy on your stomach. I had to eliminate some things that I used to be able to eat but now can’t. I have some things that are my go to that I keep handy. I always have a container of homemade chicken salad on hand and can eat that on a flourless low carb bread I like. I have some strawberries with it. I keep salads, eggs, nuts on hand. Sometimes even baked chicken with the skin on can upset my stomach, sometimes not. Seafood helps. Find the things you like that work for you and keep them in your fridge.

I’m 71 years old and I’ve lost 97 lbs over the past year. I’ve been taking compounded Semiglutide beginning the end of July 2023. I’m now trying to wean myself off of it. I’ve been on a low carb diet and do moderate exercise. I’m so happy to hear your video!! It has truly been a miracle drug for me in the fact that I don’t hear the food noise that I’ve had to deal with all of my life. I also have been able to reduce my blood pressure medications too. I was never sick on the medication…a little nauseous to begin with but I began to feel so much better. I’m very worried about coming off of it though. I can tell in reducing my dosage that some of the cravings are returning.

I had a great experience on Ozempic. I'm a 36 year old woman who went on it for weight loss, and I'm off of it now. Lost 20 lbs I just couldn't lose even with all the intense exercises and dieting for 5 years. I promise you.....for 5 years I truly tried, and I gained lots of muscle tissue through weight lifting, but still held onto the 20 lbs of fat. I just could not shed it. I also am no rookie to strength training and dieting and for some reason I just could not slim down. And this stuff helped me. For me, it was a God sent. I had minimal side effects, still had an appetite, ate good food, kept it down. The only downside was that I felt cold more often and at the beginning of a dose increase I felt more fatigued and a bit more nausea (not bad at all) the first few days. A week into the dose change, it all tapers off. That's about it....

@kirshens it has only been 2 months. So, nothing yet. I am watching what I eat, though, and I do intermittent fasting from 7 pm until noon or 1 pm the following day. I also want to be very transparent and just mention that I do weight train (intensely) at least 3 times a week also. And I plan on losing another 15 lbs or so, and I'm just taking a 3 month break before I go back onto the medication. I will probably go back on it in July. After that, I plan to go off of it as I will be at my ideal weight.

@dixiedaye8851 about a year and a half, but I went off of it about twice during that time. Once was off of it for about 3 months, and then the 2nd time, I went off of it for about 2 months. I only lost like 20 lbs in that entire year and a half time. My point is that it didn't kill my appetite completely like it does for some. I still ate. It's just that I got satiated quicker than before. But I could still finish meals. It wasn't like I took one bite, and I was done, like how some people say they are when they're on it.

I'm only half way through the podcast. Had to comment. I'm using compounded Tirzepatide. I am 56, super obese most of my life. I've had VSG in 2015, gained back all that I lost. I call myself a food addict. This medicine is literally saving my life. My starting weight on this medication was 392 pounds! I could barely stand, walk or do much of anything. I started 7/1/23. I am down 50 pounds! Tirz is saving my life. My "food noise" is so quiet now, it's the most amazing thing to not have food in your thoughts all the time. I don't plan on going off of it, just got the mental thing! Hopefully I can continue to get it compounded. But I love compound. I am in control. I can go slow on titrating up. Its an amazing thing. I eat correctly. Not exercising yet, I plan on it soon.

I have lost 40 pounds and would like to have it go a little faster but I was one of the people who was prescribed this drug with very little information on what to do. I am still on a low dosage. I have never had any side affects except constipation. The only thing i feel is less hungry. I also try to keep my food intake in an 8 hour window. since I am not very hungry this works great for me. I have done no exercise so I am glad to hear that will boost my weight loss. I keep my protein intake at 90g and eat very little sugar.

I started taking Ozempic with a new doctor. First 4 weeks on .50 m dosage once a week. Lost 12 lbs. Intermittent fasting (no breakfast), no sugar, no fried foods. Drinking lots of water. Losing inches and pounds. I just started dosage of 1.0 m last Saturday. I will weigh and measure again Saturday. Double chin gone already. 3 inches off my waist. Only side effect, constipation. I have to take a a Dr. Tobias Colon Cleanse pill on a Friday or Saturday (it kicks in about 12 - 16 hrs later) to get past the weekly constipation. Loving the results so far. I have more energy, skin looking healthier.

I came across Dr Tyna listening to a Diary of a CEO podcast by Steve Bartlet. I'm so happy I found her channel at the very beginning of my Mounjaro journey. I don't want a quick fix, I don't want to have all these nasty side effects, as I'm in for a long term, so already decided I'll be trying to stay on a low dose. After yo-yoing all my adult life, I was just exhausted. I knew I need to make lifestyle changes but the lack of weight loss in the process was so disheartening, and I didn't want to be as radical as WLS, so took a decision to take medication before I'm forced to, and here I am. I'm learning a lot from these podcast. Kettlebells are in my shopping basket already 😅

I just discovered you today and this podcast and it is a breath of fresh air regarding all of the negativity and fear porn surrounding this GLP-1 agonist. I began semiglutide in April 2023 and cycled off of it January 2024 achieving my desired weight. I vowed to myself if I began to see the "scale creep" I would return to taking it which just happened this month. As mentioned I have been hearing lots of the negativity but had such a positive weight loss experience with it that I had no hesitation returning to it. I have also been doing all of the lifestyle suggestions you've mention in this podcast and while those things help I have found that going off of the semiglutide has not worked in terms of keeping the scale at my goal. I also lost muscle and saggy skin remains. I have to also add that I now work out 5 to 6 days a week doing cardio and resistance, including a very low carbohydrate, prioritized protein and fat diet. Hopefully my muscle will return.

This is one of the best videos I have seen. So much great information that I haven't heard before. I have been on Ozempic for about a year (with no support), I have only lost 2kg in that time. It has lessened my Hba1c which is brilliant but very annoying to have not lost weight. I know I am insulin resisitant and have been trying to do research on what I can do to help. I actually did allergy/intolerance and sensitive testing and found out I have around 50 food (mostly vegetable) intolerances etc. This has surely caused inflammation. As I get these foods out of my diet, I hope the weight loss will kick in. Thank you for what you do, new subscriber here and I am looking forward to binging on your videos. 👍

Thank you thank you thank you!!!! 🙏 This is what I’ve been searching for to stay the course with taking these glps. I only turned to these out of desperation after trying everything! Every time I looked up information on these peptides it was all negative and drove fear into me so I stopped after a couple of months. I then went back on them because THEY WORKED and I felt better, but still had the doubts creeping in from peoples opinions. I seen you on Dr. Hymans KZfaq and immediately subscribed and have been binging on these videos ever since!! I’m so happy you had in mindset to look deeper into these peptides. I have no doubt it will help so many people ❤

so appreciate your point of view and non-judgemental understanding approach towards obesity. I am a very obese person with type 2 diabetes and was on Mounjaro until January when my insurance decided it would not cover the cost. The first thing it helped me with was getting my A1C down and that combined with a very low calorie diet (Nutrisystem) I had lost 30 pounds in a short amount of time. After watching your video I am hoping to see my doctor and at least get on a lower dose from a compounding pharmacy [wish me luck]

I was motivated by my sleep specialist to lose weight because I have obstructive sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome. Thanks to tirzepatide I lost 35lb so far with more to go. My OSA has dramatically improved. But what else is amazing is my blood labs came back normal for the first time in my life ! Not only that … my primary care doctor took me off all my bp meds which were at the max dosage. I increased my protein and also started lifting weights so I wouldn’t lose muscle ! Also saw a dietician and improved my diet. These drugs definitely worsen RLS and initially made me very tired. I considered stopping the tirzepatide bc of that but glad i persevered bc that went away eventually

Maybe it’s because you’re strength training that you don’t see weight loss on the scale, but you are obviously losing fat if you’ve lost 10 cm around the waist. Muscle is denser than fat, therefore it weighs more than fat at the same size 😊. Also if you are interested in making money whilst at home with your new born, let me know and I can put you in the right direction 😊

I'm surprised I watched the whole hour, but it was such a good and interesting video with amazing information! I agree with your theory about big pharma companies spreading rumors and not wanting people to have these peptides because then they will lose money when "sick" people no longer need all those meds. On the same note, it doesn't make sense that insurance companies are refusing to approve these "drugs" for use when it would ultimately save these companies money. Last thought, these peptides have been around for many years, yet some people are acting like these are new and untested "drugs". None of it makes sense. I say make these peptides available for all, even those that find themselves getting fluffy.

I started Mounjaro in November 2023 with the starting dose of 2.5 and found it was giving me anxiety. I stopped and restarted after 4 weeks to make sure it was out of my system and started on a .5 and gradually increased without any side effects. I felt my system was very sensitive and gradually introducing into my system was what I intuitively felt was best for me. Unfortunately with the shortages in Australia I couldnt get it so I started on compounded Semaglutide on the lowest dose. I have increased my protien intake and resumed weight training and have now lost 10 kilos and I am happy with the slower weight loss. Due to menopause, bouts of anxiety and giving up smoking I put on 25kgs. Now the Australian goverment is banning compounding from October 2024 and I am unable to be prescribed Ozempic because I am not diabetic so hopefully Mounjaro will be available. I was so glad to find you as you confirmed what I felt.

I’m a functional medicine provider and am absolutely setting up my practice to offer peptide therapy to my patients. Literally 100% of them could benefit from this treatment AS A PART OF a whole-person approach. I don’t understand why my functional medicine peers are so oppositional unless they’re making a lot of money off their own branded supplements, which is a real problem in the functional health community. I can’t control the price of the peptides but I do my best to keep all treatment plans as affordable as possible (by not marking up or upselling, and by offering a sliding scale) since insurance doesn’t pay me.

I did lose nearly 40 pounds in my 2 1/2 months but in the last three months I’ve stopped losing completely despite major dietary changes, maximizing my protein intake, daily exercise including resistance training. My “smart” scale does say that my body fat percentage has dropped by 6 percentage points, and my muscle mass increased by 8 pounds. So all good. But when you weigh 250 pounds you want to see scale numbers too!

I could Never get below 215, and always bounced back up. I've been using Tirzepatide for 6 months now, and I am so far down to 175! It is absolutely a lifesaving Miracle drug. Listen to your body, keep up your protein and avoid the food your brain will now tell you not to eat, and take your time. Constipation did not get better. Had to go on laxatives. Still having constipation issues, but the back aches and lower abdomen pain is less. Thank you for this!! I am starting wegovy (semaglutide) of which I had to get from a compounding pharmacy because my insurance would not pay for it. I was surprized because of my high BMI. I plan on rebooting my weight loss journey. I lost about 50 pounds almost 10 years ago and I have gained most of the weight back!! 😢 I had a tummy tuck after loosing the weight and continued to do well. But when I turned 40 and got my boobs done, I feel like my metabolism changed!! So, I hope that this gets me where I need to be!!

Thank you for your research and presenting it. In February I was diagnosed with pre diabetes, it was a scary thing to hear. So I did one month of ozempic injections under the care of my doctor, and I can say that I didn’t have great results with weight loss, bcuz I didn’t do it correctly. (Eating healthy and weight lifting) I just started again yesterday, and am determined to do it right this time. Wish me luck! I really appreciate your info.

I just wanted to say that after hearing your guest appearance on Dr. Hyman’s podcast with Calley Means, I am very excited to learn from you! I’m curious how you feel about the fact that semaglutide increases insulin, which is something as a physician I have always tried to lower in my patients to improve metabolic health. I have wondered myself if this is one of the mechanisms (other than rapid weight loss and extreme calorie deficits like other diets) causes the lean tissue loss reported. Thank you!🙏🏾

Hello. I have taken my three shot. Wednesday the 22 of May ,2024 will be my 4 one. I have lost 7lbs as of today. I am so happy I feel really positive with myself. My medical conditions are this. I have type 2 diabetes, arthritis in both knees and I have a pacemaker with fibril-later. I have done weight watchers more then once. Last time I did it I lost 40lbs that was 4 years ago and it stayed off. Now I have these health issues that I want to not have. So I am hoping for type 2 to go away. Right now I am also working with weight watchers plan from what I remember. I am 66 years old and going to be 67 in December. So I am working with Wegovy ( not sure I spelled that right) and weight watchers together. Plus I have to watch my carbs and sugar in take because of type 2. I want to thank you so very much for all your videos you put out.

Yes my arthritis pain is significantly lowered - it’s really a miracle drug.❤ I’ve had 2 full hip replacements in my 40’s- it’s been a long process. & I’m an active mom who worksout, & had the menopause weight kicked in with no way to get the extra 25 lbs off … I feel like myself again. 20 lbs off in under 3months - I’d say Go slow on the dosage and pace yourself-Better to let your body catch up ❤

Im a 45 year old orca fat lady and Im taking my first Ozempic shot tomorrow. I dont have diabetes or any effects from my obesity really but, shit gonna get real... I have a really bad hemroid that needs surgery. Friday, I asked my Dr about my weight causing the hemroid and she said yes. Due to my age my weight is starting to cause issues so Im nipping it in the bud before I do get diabetes or high BP. I eat like an active 12 year old boy with a sugar addiction! I get the impression Ozempic is like antabuse but for appetite.

Incredible! Thank you for breaking this down. I have been telling everyone that these are miracle drugs but people think I’m crazy-and misinformed.😂 Excellent work. Thank you!

I loved your video. I think the roots of vilification are based on the discrimination of obesity, and the reluctance of some "thin" people wanting to give up their feelings of superiority. Evidence of this can be seen in any KZfaq video comments from these people who say "you don't need drugs, just eat less". Or "calories in, calories out". Obesity discrimination goes deep in this county, as deep as racial and gender discrimination; humans will use any difference to make other humans be "less than", and this threatens to level the playing field.
