Hey guys. I really appreciate all the Joey passion. I'm stunned how this is not what I thought it was. I was a huge RAGE fan and loved Rock/Rap back in the day. I think I missed this due to the 'scary' image and the masks etc. I didn't give it a chance. I actually quite like this :) Aside from NOT being a double kick player, it's not that far out of my wheelhouse at all. I have a tribute vid in the works. Friends have sent through their thoughts on Joey and what he meant to them. Will be releasing when I get all the vids and time to edit. If you're digging the vids please sub and check out my reaction playlist! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bcVdfpCT0bfThHk.html

I come from a more melodic metal background and I didn't really like Slipknot at all when I first heard them. The aggression in the music and the whole aesthetic felt a bit fake to me at a glance. Then I took the time to actually listening to what they were about and found them to be great, there was a raw honesty and true skill to their music that was easy to miss. I think it's partly due to the very iconic image they project, it's easy to see just that and think that's all there is to them. I've since seen them live about half a dozen times and time has been an life-affirming event.

As always a great video, I love your Rush series but in general have a huge respect for people who take all music with an open ear, people who stick to one style are missing out. I’ve always associated SL with heavy and direct groove. High-energy metal. I feel their biggest asset was songwriting ability, paired with the ability to ‘stuff’ technical and powerful in the key transitions. In the end, their live power, presence and tightness defines their legacy. Doesn’t matter much how talented you are if you can’t translate that emotion to the audience watching. They had it by the truckload. Great reaction. No need for apologies…because it’s your reaction and no one else’s.

It's possibly the most energetic moments in music history as far as I can see! Seen them 4x live. First 3 with Joey. Then thought Jay was just a half speed Joey and not impressed... but he's definitely gotten faster and better since

You get my sub for all the Joey love! Seriously this is a perfect example of, once you get passed the initial preconceived notions of what you think it will be at face value, and truuuully truly hear the music and see the talent and see them for what and who they really are, it’s just undeniable man, and the fact that you’ve been open minded and recognized this so quick!? Amazing brother, amazing… Joey is without a doubt the best drummer of our generation!! He’s been my idol since I was 12 years old, am 31 now.. nuff said. Great video brother! Welcome to the maggot family!

I've been drumming since I was 8 . I was 12 years old when Iowa came out and it completely and utterly blew me and my friends away. Twenty years have passed since. I've played through Bozzio's Black Page during my music university recital, spent probably thousands of hours studying every move of Weckl, Colaiuta, Mayer, etc. I still listen to Iowa frequently and it still blows me away. Joey was one of those people that lit the inital fire for me, a fire that pushed me to pour literally everything I had into playing the drums for the good part of two decades. That to me is the true definiton of an all time GREAT. Rest in piece Joey.

Like I told you already in another reaction video: I have seen these guys several times live and they were killing it every time. Which is one of the reasons that until this day his signature snare is my main snare for over ten years now. I loooove the sound of his snare and it is soooo good. I am buying a Tama kit in the near future but I am still thinking of keeping his snare as my main snare. Hats off to you, good sir, for digging in. Love your reactions!

Joey has always been a hug inspiration to me growing up. I've listened to Slipknot since I was 5 years old and I've been drumming the same amount of time. They are my favorite band of all time above other bands. I finally got to see Slipknot in 2015 and it was amazing. Sad that Joey wasn't part of it. Thanks for doing this and im glad they caught your attention.

I really appreciate you doing these videos. I was never a fan of this genre but being in construction I’ve listed to many many hours of it lol. I have had a soft spot for slipknot as well due to the musicality of it. They are talented artists, much above many of their peers. My son drums and I remember watching clips with him to introduce him to this legend in the speed game… Joey definitely makes an impression lol. Again, thanks for honoring this legend - RIP Joey Tony

Just commented on likely the previous review to this one re: Joey. Again, I appreciate your increased appreciation for Joey and Slipknot. I've never played drums, but I've always loved them and wanted to learn. Joey's speed, intensity, accuracy, and ability to move his entire body independently, all while head banging... Amazing to me. I'm not just a straight up metal fan either. I listen to the dubliners, clancey bothers and Tommy makem, to metallica and slipknot. I appreciate your videos sir!

I remember the day I first heard slipknot. It was just an ordinary day. I wasn't looking for new music. It just came on. My hair....stood up on my arms. I gave it a second listen. I laughed out loud with joy. It was so exciting. I shared it with my metal friends. They had similar experiences. Slipknot certainly opened a new door in the music world. Metal bands seems to have ways of doing that dont they? 🤘 Thank you Andrew. What an absolutely awesome tribute to Joey.
