If you have suggestions as to what I should react to next put them down in the comments.

From this new album, “Manners”, “H-G-K” and “Black Hole” are Akane’s standout tracks. Here’s her tweets regarding these- Manners. It was so difficult to produce this groove. I studied really hard! When I get it exactly right, the feeling is great! H-G-K. In the final pre-chorus with the hi-hat, my legs are both occupied so I use a technique where I shut them with my hands and hit them!! Black Hole. It’s here... the super chaotic song...!!! Finally reached 220BPM...!!! After I finished recording this song, I bought myself a treat. LOL!

A great thing about Band-Maid is that one song is actually 5 separate songs, depending on what instrument you focus your listening on. Every time you change your focus to a different instrument or voice is like listening to another song altogether, and it's amazing that the final product of everything mixed together makes such awesome music. Ever since discovering your channel I've learned a lot about drumming, and I'm starting to see things for myself that I didn't even know were there before, so thank you for that!

I love your comments as they are different than a lot of reaction videos. You are also up front about what your "jam" is, lol so your videos shouldn't be upset if you don't really comment on the guitars, for example. Band-Maid has vocal coaches, guitar masters, bass junkies, metal drummers, you name it reacting to their stuff. I love tuning in to each person to catch the things that maybe I missed, or didn't even notice. Band-Maid is sort of like a Bowie concert... if you are looking at one side of the stage, you are probably missing something on the other side. but enjoy what you are experiencing

Probably their best quality is that no matter how complex each member plays or the switches in timing (or layers of timing) each member is completely respectful of the other's space. Thanks for this very insightful reaction. I appreciate very much your focus on the drums. I'm a guitarplayer not a drummer, but I'm always flored by Akanes drumming. She's the kind of drummer every rock musician would like to have in his band. She levels up every piece of music with her constant creative and tasteful drumming. I think she's definetely one of the most creative rock-drummer out there. The whole Band is very creative in songwriting and how to structure their songs - Kanami, the Leadguitarist and music mastermind is very gifted with composition talent. As most people recommend "Freedom" because of the drum solo, I think it's not Akanes technical showpiece. I would like to hear a review from your side of "Secret my lips" or "Bubble" or "Wonderland". I think from a drummer perspective Akanes drumming is very interesting in this pieces, and of course "Black hole" from their new album, unfortunately without MV (yet) - pure drum madness.

The pyro scene surprised me in a couple of ways. First, they were closer to the pyro that I had expected; I thought the close appearance in the PV was a camera trick. Secondly, the ladies didn't flinch when the pyro went off despite there being a pretty big boom from it.

Shows all of that gifted talent developed further when she attended the music academy in her formative years with Misa on bass. Akane is the highlight in this song. Every other member has their moments from Kanami's solo to Saiki's magnificent vocal and Miku's contrasting backing vocal (Misa's always great) but Akane's skill stands out here. React to YOYOKA next. (Japanese female drummer) The Ellen Show (TV) invited her twice. She appeared as a guest drummer in concerts such as Cyndi Lauper's and Fall Out Boy's. Robert Plant and Ian Paice react to her in youtube.

Thank you for the informative reaction. While it is obvious why folks would push for review of the song Freedom because of short drum solo,, My personal opinion is other songs like Alone and Blooming and Rinne offer overall more interesting tasty drumming bits. But be warned, this will all seem sedate compared to the drumming in some other songs on the new album -- songs such as No God and Black Hole.

I can't agree more with you on their track 'Alone'. I've noticed that a lot of comments are recommending fast songs, but fast doesn't always mean it's the best or most interesting.

I’d be really interested to hear your take on some of Band-Maid’s slower or more groovier songs, ones that don’t have Akane pushing the pedal to the metal, so to speak. Try “Bubble” or “Daydreaming”!

Mr. Levitsky, There's a special edition of the new Unseen World album that includes a Blu-Ray that includes instrumental videos of each member of the band who plays an instrument focused exclusively on them for the songs After Life, No God, Giovanni, and an instrumental exclusive to the Blu-Ray, Without Holding Back. You may find that to be better source material for Band-Maid reactions from this album.

You are correct about the base drum . Akane plays a double pedal and double strikers on one base drum. I have listened to other songs that have an incredibly fast double base sound which I think is because the strikers are on the same drum. There is an interview out there with her showing her drum set and the double striker setup.

Even in the early stuff she was creative. Go back and check out "Real Existence." That was only the 3rd song I heard from them, but THAT was the ONE. She constantly is changing things up inside each section. She just won't sit down into one groove and let it just be. But at the same time she strives to support the rest of the band and never overwhelms them. And YES, it is double pedals. She just talked about how she is up to 220 bpm on the feet. Last album it was 190. And poor little old me can barely do 140 after two years of running. biking, leg lifts and tons of sit ups.

She does have a double pedal. She bought it at the L. A. Guitar Center the first time they came to the U. S.

Akane uses the double pedal kick bar, on her reg.kit almost obsessively, she had two kick drums previously but finds this style more compact, love how she breaks down her drumming song arrangement, + builds it up again within the meter, she goes into half time, from a fast pace then doubles up on the return, the drop down effect almost teasingly, giving the drums loads of dynamics, thanks for your reaction.

Awesome reaction, their rhythm section is really something else. Freedom is a good song as well to analyze the drumming and I'm sure you're getting a lot of suggestions so to keep it simple I would just suggest Onset as I like the drumming in that one a lot but they have a lot of interesting songs so you really can't wrong with them. Anyway keep up with the nice reviews they're are very entertaining and insightful.

Ah-KAH-neh AcCENT on the second syllable The brand names you got, but also figured out that she has double pedal kickers on a single bass. And you were right about that. Kudos.

Akane used to play a 4 piece kit in Band-Maid's earlier days. She does use Dw 9000 double pedals. This kit isn't the one she normally uses, possibly an older one or even a rental for the video. I don't recognize the full length lugs from any series from Tama produced recently. She amazes me by how she makes her kit sound bigger than it is!!! Great reaction!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘

Pronunciation is ah-con-neigh rather than awk-on-neigh (Start with an “ah” rather than an “awk” and you got it. :). Another great reaction! Thanks! Looking forward to the next one. When watching Freedom you will see she wears a smile unlike any other drummer I have seen.

All of these things. Also, place the emphasis on the second syllable. "a-KA-ne"
@tremapar
@tremapar 3 жыл бұрын
@@donaldholden2090 I don't have any experience with Japanese other than anime(lol), so this could be a stupid question, but do typical western emphases apply to such pronunciation? IDK but while AH-ka-ne definitely sounds wrong, so does ah-KA-ne. Perhaps it's because speaking with an American accent, my "drawl" would make either case sound waayyy to emphasized. Like it's too easy for the second one to accidentally sound like ah-KAWH-ne spending too long in the middle. When I view it as just ah-ka-ne then I can say it correctly! For comparison I'm just thinking back to how English reading of "Mikasa" or "Sakura" can sound wrong no matter where a stress goes, but in Japanese I vaguely remember each syllable being the same quick speed.

@@tremapar The trick to it is to make the emphasis 1)slight, and 2) one of raising the volume (and, even more slightly, the pitch), _without_ any lengthening.
