So, my comment is nothing at all bad against this drummer. I think he did pretty damn good given the time restraints and difficulty of this song. But let's be honest. His final take is all over the place. He drops out of time several times, adds some of his own fills that don't match the record at all, he gets almost none of the accents right, although to be fair he doesn't have as many splashes and they aren't easily accessible (ii has them all close to each other). Many of his ghost notes on the snare are too loose and the flow is off in multiple places. I personally couldn't do it. Again, I think his attempt was legit and he is obviously an incredible drummer playing with Plini. I just don't see what all the fuss is about if the goal is to match the original as close as possible. This was way off and he knew it was way off. The dude is awesome for giving it a go! Thumbs up from me. I personally would have rather heard him create his own drum parts listening to a drum-less track, because then we'd at least get to see what a different high-level drummer would do with the song, and see where things matched up, where things differed, and how flexible music can be where changes to the foundation of a song are concerned. Maybe next time.
