Mmmm I think Asheim is one of the living legends in extreme music, widely known for his unique style of playing spcecially in their beginning... Underappreciated? Never. Underrated? Not by any fan of Death Metal

@@cern999 i just think in general. When people list their favorite drummers, Steve seems to never be mentioned, unless they get reminded of him. Also, he has written a ton (in fact, most!!) of Deicides songs, which i dont think many people even realize!! Hes an all around legend in my opinion. And In interviews he just seems like a really chill, laid back guy who just loves idk...life lol.

Yeah don't get me wrong he fucking rules and is an inspiration. But he seems to be playing a little softer these days. Watch some blasts he does in even relatively recent videos he hits harder.

Modern metal drummers have a lot to thank steve for , he changed the way death metal drummers played , when legion first came out it blew the minds of most death metal fans , also hes the main song writer in deicide and has wrote around 70% of the guitar parts on their albums , and hes in his early 50s still killing , true legend .

I never realized he uses such a small diameter snare.. looks like a 13" snare. Steve is one of my favorite death metal drummers. Personally him and Dave Lombardo are some of my main influences when I first started playing double bass and getting into more extreme drumming. People hate on the production of their album, Once Upon the Cross, but ive always liked it. Back before KZfaq the only way i could learn songs was through their albums and you can hear Steves drumming and fills so good on that album when I was first learning blast beats.

Bro, decide helped pave the way for MASS DM bands.. Steve and decide helped create that style of playing.. if you haven't heard of these guys, I highly recommend listening to their first few albums.. even their latest albums are brutal as hell.. Steve is hands down one of the best death metal drummers to ever walk the earth..

I seen them on the Serpents Of The Light tour at a place called The Machine in Massillon Ohio. It was snowed out and due to a late start I got to see Steve do a warm up set. It was amazing. I handed Glenn a joint after the concert and asked him how he burned the cross in his head and if looks could kill I'd be dead. He handed me my joint back and walked away in disgust. Weird dude

This mf is a monster. I think he needs better live sound. I think the only time i've heard him with a killer live sound was at the Roadrunner United concert, when he played "Dead By Dawn" with Glen.
