Carl Palmer, drummer and last surviving member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer is kicking off his fall 2023 tour in Rochester.
Band vocalist Greg Lake and keyboardist Keith Emerson both passed away in 2016, within 6 months of each other.
His show, “The Return of Emerson, Lake & Palmer” will honor his bandmates and carry on the group’s legacy, as he plays alongside on-stage footage of them from their 1992 performance in Royal Albert Hall.
The show will be on Friday, November 3 in the Theater at Innovation Square beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available on Carl’s website.

A lot of humans don't know it, but Carl's always been a first to bring new things to music. Keith Emerson also brought a lot of new.

Agreed. He is just as good if not more good then buddy rich. Considering he not only lived longer then buddy rich. But can drum just as well when he was young at his age. With proper technique and taking care of his health has kept a drumming madman

I agree I've always said that Carl is Buddy Rich on steroids😊 but yes he is better because Carl also has classical and jazz training as well as playing progressive rock which is some pretty complex s h i t😮

I think he's fantastic. My favorite drummer however is Bill Bruford. Favorite doesn't mean the best. Bruford is so inventive and surprising.

I've seen two of Carl's ELP Legacy shows and they were awesome. I was at the 1992 gig which is the basis for the new show. Can't wait for it to come to the UK. Lucky Rochester.

Saw the show in Erie , PA. If you are an ELP/Prog rock fan it's worth checking out. Carl plays an amazing solo and has a couple amazing musicians accompany him. The tunes featuring his lost band mates were well done as well.

Well it ain’t coming to the U.K , the band basically ignored the U.K after 1973 due to the anality of the U.K press !

RUSH has expressed interest in possibly touring with another drummer. I can't think of any other drummer capable of pulling off Neil's talent than Carl Palmer. Also saw ELP's Black Moon tour Jones Beach Theater in NY in the 90's and Carl's ELP Legacy tour with YES ,ASIA , and Strange world of Arthur Brown in Raleigh NC in 2019

I've seen ELP every time they came to my city starting in 1971 all of the way up to the early 2000s and I do agree with you not only that put Neil Peart was hugely influenced by Carl Palmer back when Neil was first starting out and if you would have seen Carl Palmer in the old days he was even better than Neil Peart. As a matter of fact you can see the Brain Salad Surgery tour in 1974 they have a lot of it including the drum solo on KZfaq😮 I was surprised to not too long ago I heard Carl Palmer in an interview and although he did not mention Neil Peart by name he stated that he was a fan of Rush and had even gone to a couple of their concerts. My point is I agree with you Carl would be a great choice however I can't help but feel he has a lot of loyalty to these two guys and this Legacy tour. I still say that Carl Palmer should get a good keyboard player and a bass player singer and do the ELP Legacy tour the right way😊

I saw them at Jones Beach, too. Can’t remember if I saw them there twice. I know they opened for Jethro Tull there once. Was that the same show? I also saw Palmer with Arthur Brown, Asia and Yes at Bald Hill

@@pjm829 on that Jethro Tull tour they were Co headliners in one city ELP would open and in the next city Jethro Tull would open. You saw them very late in their career. I saw them in 1971 when yes opened up for them I saw them again in 1972 for trilogy 1973 for Brain Salad Surgery again in 1976 when Journey opened up for them twice in 1977 and again in 1978. Of course I saw them in the later decades however they weren't the same. If you didn't see them in the 1970s especially the early seventies then unfortunately you missed out. They were young energetic precise with a high level of virtuosity like none other. They won all the polls and were considered the standard for excellence in musicianship that all other groups were compared to in those days. I saw Carl Palmer before Neil Peart was even with Rush. I saw Neil Peart in 1974 right after he joined Rush add a free concert in St Louis Forest Park called the KSHE kite flying contest. They opened up for Charlie Daniels believe it or not and Drew a crowd of 85,000 people I was 17 years old at the time. One last thing Neil Peart who was inspired by Carl Palmer by the way was no match for him in concert. I know because I saw Rush several times as well and yes Neil never disappoints however Carl Palmer was so off the chain he looked like a freaking robot he was so powerful and fast as well as extremely complex. Anyway I just wanted you to know that.
