With the engine disassembled and thinking ahead of what all needs to happen, I need to consider cooling options that I believe are best for my engine. Naturally, Dry Decking is high on the list. I was first educated about Dry Decking from Paul Jeffries, but now it’s getting real… Lone Star Mini

Randy, A very interesting topic, It‘s true that no 4 cylinder gets less coolant movement due to the dynamics of the flow path and i can see how the plugs would force more flow to the end of the block, The one advantage with the dry deck system and cometic casket is the flow is one directional so it has to pass all the cylinders and head at the same rate of flow, Looking forward to the comments on the Evans coolant video which i would like to contribute to if i may whan you get round to filming it. Cheers Dave

1, run engine a it bit richer this helps cool engine by washing the ports . 2, advance the timing 4 degrees more than manual states,this make for a cooler running engine. 3',change radiator for a 3 or 4 core. 4 use a 72/74/78 degree thermostat.

Hey Randy, KAD sell a kit with plugs for the block instead of Gasket might be worth a look.

Since this video came out and thanks to yourself, I found two other sources for the typical dry deck kit.. the other two are Turbo-mini.com and KAD. I do like the KAD kit in that they offer all the brass plugs as well.. thank you for mentioning them..

You seem so comfortable explaining things, are you a college lecturer or something similar?

Dave… you are too kind. I merely have the attitude that I’m talking to myself for future reference. Of course the fact that I film it helps me to remember better. No Sir.. I am not a lecturer or anything similar.

Hey Randy, just curious, do they make an electric fan system for the mini? I know some of the street rod guys use them on big block motors when they have overheating issues.
@LoneStarMini
@LoneStarMini 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Now JJ.. yes, and I am considering using an electric fan in addition to the dry decking. They do make the electric fans and I can put on on the opposite side of the belt drive fan (inside the wheel well area).. While not a daily driver, I would like to be able to drive the mini in the heat of the summer...
