Cool idea but the issue is having to rack the slide with each shot. By training this way, you are creating muscle memory with shooting outside of this. Solve that and I’m in.

Cool system! I just received my X10 set as well and love it. Just ordered the Laser Academy system, and will pick up a Blackbeard and some other goodies soon. I echo other commenters, requesting integration between the X series and the Laser Academy. Evolving the systems into an integrated ecosystem would be icing on the cake! Another feature request would be a "Drill-Builder" component, for say... designing stages for IDPA, IPSC, USPSA, etc. and even be able to share them with the Mantis user community. I get it, that it would be difficult (not impossible) to capture the shoot & move aspect of action pistol sports, but some static stages, like the standards or qualifier stages would be highly useful and allow room for the system to grow indefinitely. This would be a way for the community to take some of the load off of the devs, that could spend less time programming drills, and more time adding or enhancing product functionality. This also encourages the community to do a lot of your marketing for you. ;-)

This would be out of this world if you manage to assimilate projector/screen moving targets and/or various scenarios with actual real people on the footage and all that combined with mantis laser. Imagine that... Different scenarios, different moving/running/concealed targets... Wow... Like a real thing 👌👍

Have had this since it came out. Love it! Very intuitive and easy to use and set up. I use 2 devices and use my X10 on my iPod and my phone on the laser app. Also like the fact I can use my own targets with the “control” target to run the app. Keep up the great work Mantis Team!!! 💯🎯🔫👍🏼👊🏼

I just set my system up. Love it! Since it’s being suggested so much I’m sure you guys will combine everything in one app to allow use of laser and X10. For now I will just run the apps on separate devices.

I purchased a double/single hammer fired pistol (Taurus PC3). Fewer out there these days, but I like the safety aspect and I can fire as many shots as I like w/o having to re-cock or activate the slide. This is a great tool for getting better and having fun.

Just picked up several of the laser cartridges and the target pack! (I already have a tripod and such for my own channel’s videos, so figured I’d avoid the redundancy. Wish the pro app was a little cheaper, but if it does what it’s supposed to, I’ll be quite happy with it

I just got my Mantis X10 and had previously been dryfiring with a laser. I just went in and was checking out the Laser Academy. As others have said it would be great to be able to integrate the 2. I love all the extra info I get with the Mantis over just using a laser but It would be nice to be able to see an approximation of where we are shooting not just our technique. Before I got my Mantis X10 I would rarely dryfire with the laser. Now I am training daily but also find myself looking for where my laser hits. I also have a Blackbeard coming in soon.

I thought racking the slide would be annoying but its not. Getting more practice time in at home. I like this product.

Had to get a laser from a third party, as I needed 300 blackout, but I’ll be using the app, buying a Blackbeard and possibly getting the kit in .45 acp as well. Might just buy the pro IAP though. Haven’t decided.

Got this system a couple weeks ago, I really like it but I would love to see some more 2 person drills, even a simple best score of 10 shots for example. It seems like there is a lot of potential in the app to make this a fun system for the family to use together.

If you guys make a dry fire mag that resets the trigger while also allowing the use of the laser that would be an absolute game-changer. I'm glad I read your FAQ because I almost bought the dryfiremag to compliment this kit because I thought it would be great to be able to keep shooting without having to re-rack the gun after every shot.

you guys need to make it so you don;t have to rack the gun after every shot. that could potentially teach the shooter a bad habit. If not for that issue I would have ordered it. I'll keep my eye out for the before mentioned improvement.

Couldn’t you auto calculate and adjust for the sight over bore if you got the sight height, the zero distance, and the shooting distance? This would be an amazing feature.

Is there any way of using the laser bullet without racking in between? Let's suppose I want to train as with normal bullets the Mozambique drill: 2 to the body, one to the head. Unless my gun is jammed or empty ;-) I luckily do not have to rack it every time I want to shoot. Is this possible with the laser bullets as well?

Not having much success with the camera recognizing the targets. Is there a certain distance the camera has to be from the targets? I’m seeing a lot of red blurring lines as the camera struggles to acquire the target. Also the targets recv’d seem smaller than those shown in the video.

Just got the mantis academy my control target was working for the first 10 minutes but then it stopped working. Tried adjusting the lighting and placement of the camera everything is there a target box I have to place over the control target?

Can you actually do an example of setting the ballistic offset to say mimic 15 yards. Does that take into account the optic mounted or is it just taking into account the distance? Saying it can do it and showing how are two very different things, thanks. I hope you can make videos of this great product.

How about an explanation of the Laser Academy targets? I think I understand the object of the HUNT target, but I was expecting the app to recognize the target and maybe call out the color, shape, and # for me to find and hit within a certain time to score. Doesn’t seem to work that way. The bullseye targets are no brainers, not sure what the other targets are for if they all do essentially the same thing.

Only once, very 1st time have I been able to get this system to work when I was shooting from 7 yards. After that, no joy. Needs much more documentation.

I got this Mantis kit 3 months ago & still cannot get it set up. I've reached out to support and they have been responsive. However my cartridge does not sit in my firearm well. Also, have not received an answer to confirming if my (empty) magazine must be in my firearm.

Got the Academy as a gift with a .45 cartridge. Purchased additional .380 and 9mm brand new. None of the three cartridges worked. Hard to believe ALL the batteries were dead. After 2 hours messing with it, I returned the whole thing. Disappointed, to say the least.

I used Mantis Laser Academy tonight for the first time and it's great, but I didn't have to rack slide. I was still able to get off the next shot each time and the app registered the shot on the target. Is rack sliding needed for some other reason?

I bought the mobile kit tripod on its own and it fails to hold up my iphone 14 pro...had to tighten it extra hard and now the plastic that holds the ball joint has cracked...not good quality at all, if it cant hold up todays phones.

Nice presentation and neat app. I have been thinking of getting into a laser dryfire system for a while now and saw one of your competitors featured on Autumn's Armory the other day. I ended up looking into the rest of your competitors as well as your system but ended up going with yet another system which was the only company that sold a laser insert for the 9x18mm Makarov. You should look into offering a Makarov laser since there are a lot of folks who are into these surplus Warsaw Pact 9mm's since they make decent carry guns and if you make a 9x19mm Luger and 9x17mm laser it shouldn't be too hard to mill one in 9x18mm too. It would be nice if someone made .32ACP versions but I get that would mean a much smaller cartridge than the typical .30 caliber case format. It would mean a different smaller-diameter battery too. I really like the options your app gives and will definitely download and try it along with the app from G-Fire to compare and try out. One very important feature of any app is data security and especially when it comes to firearms training. The best days security is to never allow data to be uploaded/shared with the developers in the first placd (other than perhaps crash data) and especially never to third parties or in the worst case a subpoena from law enforcement or a judge in a criminal trial. So kudos on giving the user the option to keep their sessions and data anonymous and not requiring a login. The best way to protect your data is to not let it out there in the first place. The gun community is still reeling from the Liberty Safe debacle but even the best private or publicly-held company can not keep data safe when a legitimate subpoena is issued to them from the government for access to such data.
