I love dry fly fishing and I wish there were more opportunities. Most of the trout I catch are sub-surface using nymphs. I like the episodes Bill hosts. He’s my kind of fly fisherman.

Its Ron again, a cripple pattern represents a fly stuck in the shuck and a fish is more likely to hit this fly because it can't fly off the water and the fish are aware of this. The pattern also is a parachute pattern which sits low in the water which also entices the fish to hit it .Sulfer hatches have a majority of flies stuck in the shuck . We also do well with olive cripples ,when its slow we prospect cast all over with these and do well with these. Again the best place to get these its the best pattern i ever used is catskill flies in Rosco NY ,they will ship flies anywhere .Good luck tight lines

My name is Ron ,I'm a mad fly fisherman , i fish in NY a lot on the Beaverkill willowemock never sink rivers and all over NJ .I have fly fished for 40 years .The best caddis is Orvis splittsville caddis .It represents 4 or 5 different stages of caddis so no matter what the fish is thinking this fly is on the hit list for dinner. Always try to match the size and color .It comes in three colors tan, peacock, olive . We use peacock in a size 16 most of the time in NY.The Orvis flyshop called Beaverkill angler sells these in peacock for some reason orvis on line stopped selling this color . This is the best caddis pattern. To catch more fish a cripple pattern works great also for may flies ,olives and sulfurs ,and isos .We buy the best cripple dry fly patterns for these are sold at catskill flies in Rosco NY . You will not find a better cripple pattern anywhere than at catskill flies, they have the best. They will ship there flies anywhere . On these flies i have caught so many fish its crazy. I highly recommend these 2 fly shops for these flies. Tight lines ,catch them all ,or try, lol have fun .

The change in production style will take some getting used to (I find the addition of reverb to the audio is a little odd as there's not usually reverb when you're on the water)... but Bill Spicer is still the same ol Bill :)

What weight fly rod is recommended for this body of water? I'm guessing nothing less than a #6. Looks like I may have to make the trip from the States and visit here. Stunning scenery and those brookies are sheer pigs. Thanks for uploading this video. Craig from Utah

Not a fan of catch and release. Arguably, it's torturing fish for fun, and takes away the 'game' from game fishing. In my day, 30 odd years ago, fishermen were conservationists via careful adherence to close seasons, size requirements for taking, and sensible numbers of rod allowed on beats.

It kills me when I see guys like you grab fish with bone dry hands. You wipe off their protective mucus they have to fight off infections and diseases. You’re supposed to be educating people what to do, not what not to do!
