I found it so wholesome that the humans kept trying to help this creature. Even when it was deliberately dragging itself away from the water and it was clear that it didn't need water, they still tried to keep it wet to help it.

Somehow seeing Felix animate what is supposed to be normal humans is more surreal than the fever dream character designs he usually uses.

I've always appreciated this film for its considerate view of humanity. In most stories like these the humans are always trying to kill the monster, or scared of it, or whatever. I like that everyone is trying to help in their own way.

No one really talks about it but these videos always have amazing sound production.

I think I have a good theory of what's happening in this film, and what Felix is trying to say: Really, the film is a metaphor for a large creature that beaches itself and takes a trip to a convenience store. We see this evidenced by the large creature that beaches itself, and then takes a trip to a convenience store. Much like a bird that swallows sea litter and dies, so too, in the end, does a bird swallow some sea litter and die. There's a lot to unpack, and obviously a lot of layers, but overall a mastery of symbolism at work here.

I love this. Such a unique story, such great timing, such a great art style. I love the police car, the one guy who goes back to the ocean for a bucket of water, the way the guy's head obscures the beached creature in the first scene, and the way the shop owner keeps reading the news after getting treasure dumped on the floor. I appreciate so many little details in this. The combination of animation styles, the music for particular scenes that set a mood, the sound effects like his scales falling off, and it sounds so hot outside, and the scales look like artichoke pieces, and ...I could go on forever.

We've been dumping so much crap into the ocean that even the deep water life has now gotten addicted to chips and candy and is literally risking life to come up to the surface and get 'supplies'. And how the 7/11 owner has sold a ton of junk food for exotic treasure basically but still can't stop reading the 'man unhappy' daily. Just great creativity.
