In this video ill be taking a trip on one of the few remaining ME class of locomotives in passenger service for DSB. These locomotives are being retired from the 11-12-2021 along with the December 2021 timetable change. Come along as i take a trip on a regional service from Østerport via Copenhagen Main station to Ringsted in their final days of operation

I just read the news that 13+2 ME locomotives will come to Hungary on a long term lease (5 years initially) to help with our ageing diesel locomotive fleet. Appearantly they are expected to arrive within weeks and will be in service on the Northen route around Lake Balaton and some of the non-electrified routes in the Western part of the country. I am looking forward to these, as you said, the sound of these locos are pretty impressive.

@@Simon-Andersen Apperantly, they somehow managed to convince the authorities that the MEs are distant cousings of Nohab which makes it easier to introduce to traffic than a completely different engine. E.g. no ETCS fitting is required which are anyway not used in the intended routes. We have a rapidly aging diesel fleet of mostly Hungarian made and ex-soviet enginges that had been refitted with modern Catepillar/MTU enginges but that was also 20 years ago. And there are less and less locos left in Europe to purchase. Did you see the livery? I think it looks fairly modern.

Enjoyed your video, thanks for your efforts. We have a number of MZ locomotives here in Australia. They’re given the nickname of “cake tins” or “helgas”. We’re basically a nation of ancient diesel locomotives, especially of the EMD variety, I guess that’s why the MZs ended up here.

That is cool! Might have to come down to Australia to check that out one day! The ME locos also have EMD engines but they will have to settle for Sweden

There are three variants of the MZ. MZ Series 1 - 3,300 hp in a small bodyshell. MZ Series 2 - 3,900 hp in a small bodyshell. MZ Series 3 - 3,900hp in the large bodyshell. DSB sold some MZ Series 2 to Iran.

As someone who specifically went to Denmark to ride MZ, ME, and even MT, plus EA; I am very sad to see the ME go. Out of the 37 x Litra ME, I managed to ride behind 31 of them. I am not that impressed by the Siemens Vectron. I have had them in Belgium and the Netherlands, and I have seen them in Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. I also know they have gone to Finland too. If we are not careful, the whole world will have only one type of locomotive. Very sad. In Britain, Siemens were awful, the trains far too heavy, and they grind the rails. Plus in Norway, the Siemens Di6 saga is a lesson on how not to build a loco. Mange takk, for the video. Thanks for watching, while it's getting less intresting being a rail enthusiast it's better for the passenger having a reliable train service and the vectrons are tried and tested 😊

@@Simon-Andersen I'll wait to they knacker your track, then all your trains will run late due to speed restrictions on the track. Then you'll have to replace all the rails, and the cost will be so expensive, it will be cheaper to close the railway lines. Siemens have yet to build anything good. I tried to warn you.

Hi Simon, That was a great and very informative video! As also being a trainfan the Class 1500 from DSB is an awesome and beasty diesellocomotive with a great sound of the turbo and dieselengines! They remind me of the German DB Class 218 diesellocomotives so you can say that this is their Danish Brother, Denmark is an amazing country for traintravelling, Is the DSB Class 1500 still in service or are they sold to private freight operators? By the way: At Copenhagen I saw these red funny looking DSB DOT Commuter Trains with very small carriages, Maybe a tip for a new train review? Keep on moving Simon, You are the best! 😃

Hey Marco, the 1500 / ME are all out of passenger service now and can only be found hauling freight. Youre thinking of the s-tog in Copenhagen. Probably not gonna do a review of them, but maybe a video about the entire system in the future :-)

The Waggons look very similar to German Dostos :D I remember when I saw this trains in Høje taastrup in the Early 2000s when I lived there. Mange hilser fra tyskland :)

So the remaining Diseasel trains operated by DSB will be the IC3 and IC4?

The H in København H, stands for Hovedbanegård which I think translates to main station. Sorry but my Danish is quite limited.

Thanks, simon! So, I come from the eurotrip nonstop channel. So, first of all, you must know that I use a translator; in fact, I write the text in French, then I copy and paste to the translator, who gives me his translation in English. So, I cannot master the translation from English which is written. You need to know that I don't speak English. Also, the fact that you express yourself in English, in such technical and difficult terms, saddens me: I only followed or had the courage to follow half of your video. In fact, I only looked at the landscapes that you showed us more than your text unbearable to decipher for someone who struggles with English. What a habit you all have at the moment of speaking in English, of having your voice expressed, rather than writing a simple, refined text, which I can follow quietly! Otherwise, I see that you release few videos. Your video is of a much lower quality than that of nonstop eurotrip: there are no landscapes shown, the omnipresent English saturates the whole, you always show the same landscapes, you are too critical, you speak too much in English, you don't write in english. You must know that I love double-decker trains. Your ultra complicated and sophisticated scheme made me laugh, it is completely inappropriate here. All of those blacks and pauses in storytelling are also hard to follow. Your video is difficult to follow. For a first video, I still grant you a like for your video to better encourage you for your following videos. Good luck to you !
