Hi! I am updating my home and it has ceramic tile on the countertops and backsplash. What options do you suggest that would update them to a modern/contemporary look without having to replace them? And would I be able to put laminate flooring just on top of the tile flooring?

Hi im currently renovating my kitchen. It is almost done and we will be doing the lighting next. What light color do you recommend for track light and under the cabinet lighting. Hi zahira I m from India n iwatch all ur videos they are vry informative so i need one suggestion regarding my interior as I m planning my living dining n kitchen to be designed in navy blue n off white so can u suggest the wall color curtain color and the wood color that will perfectly go with my schemed. Can glossynavy blue in the upper n lower shelf of the kitchen cabinet will look good kindly suggest

I am in the middle of a kitchen renovation and was so excited to see this video! My kitchen is going to be white and I considered matte black but do NOT want modern farmhouse so I was considering a dark bronze (non oil rubbed) and having a hard time finding faucets etc in a non oil rubbed bronze. I am considering changing to matte black but am afraid it will look like modern farmhouse or super contemporary/modern. Those are the two styles I see black used most often. Any suggestions? Can matte black be traditional?

Hi Karen, Thanks for sharing! I think that both can work, but it depends on your taste. If you don't like the modern look, opt for a finish like bronze/gold and for faucets with organic shapes and interesting details that connect with the style you want. Avoid Matte black faucets with minimalist and contemporary shapes; if you opt for black, try to make its form connect with your style (farmhouse) 😊

@@DSigners TY I am actually trying not to be Modern Farmhouse or super modern/contemporary. My husband called it country estate. We live in a country setting so want an upscale rustic vibe. I am pretty traditional and that is where I get stuck on the matte black. That said I don't think the bronze is all that different but matte black is much more readily available.

How you feel about concrete countertops? I'm considering concrete with an epoxy coating to look like marble. From what I've learned so far, it is food safe, highly durable, and looks like real marble (or granite, or whatever you choose to mimic). I'd like to have your opinion on this please. Thank you.

Some great tips as always but I don't think there's anything practical or elegant about open shelving in a real kitchen (versus a showroom kitchen). Open shelves tend to collect dust and unless you only plan to store designer objects that you probably don't use, the objects that end up on them will probably end up detracting from the look of your kitchen :-(

To be fair, It's hard to look around when You are in the camera ^_^. For a small tip for renovations, I suggest looking at Dako company for new doors or windows.

Hi, Im having difficulty choosing what type of light to put over my sink and window area. My island pendants are contemporary caged look and my dining area is open to the kitchen with 2 large caged pendants all are black. The width is @36 wide with black windows. Should I have a wide light or a armed light that drops down? I don’t want to make the area seem cluttered or busy. Thanks

The current trend for open shelves starts out well but usually ends up messy. I don't believe you advised to put a lamp beside a sink, that is dangerous.

Hi Laura, Thanks for sharing! I have never heard of a negative experience having a lamp near the sink area. If the electrical installation and the plumbing are well installed, it mustn't conflict; the same happens with the lamps in the vanity in bathrooms, where it's common to have them. Did you have a bad experience with some of these situations? I'll love to know about it to learn more about it! :)
