Better solution: add a 10MOhm resistor in parallel of it. I soldered mine on top of the in-plug. Plus this scope is missing the two diodes in the orginal 5012H layout. Adding the resistor and diodes will make the readings and signal more accurate.

@@viocaia you are welcome. My DSO120M was way more out of specs than yours. Some of the resistors in the resistor-capacitor network was either fake or at least could not be measured. So replaced them first with correct values. After adding the diodes and the 10M resistor I finally could also calibrate my probe correctly. There are still some glinches in displaying the signal in the 2V range, but only at lower frequencies like a few kHz. But at 1Mhz and up to about 8 MHz I´m getting now an absolute square wafeform. Then it turns slowly to sinus, though thats the limitiations of this scope. And it displays frequencies up to 115MHz more or less correctly. So at this stage not bad for a scope I paid 50 Euros. Using it more often than my desk bench for quick measurments.

Enjoyed your videos. Maybe you can put the resistor in the probe instead of the meter to avoid modification of the meter.

A good plan except for the reference meter. If you do something like this you use a fluke DMM. That is the only brand that I and profesionals trust.

Hi Viorel, thanks for the video. Regarding that resistor in series... Can you share what resistor did you use and how did you install it? Thank you in advance 👍

It turns like a bad solution, so I don't recommend it.It's ok for DC but turns the AC impracticable.

I think you seem to be very interesting and worth watching. You have chosen to put music under your review and all power to you for that, unfortunately, does that, in my opinion, destroy your video, and therefore have I only watched 1½ of your videos and chose to go to another channel for maybe less detailed info but without music:-) Please understand that I am not hating on you and I do not know if you can use my opinion at all, I can see you have something great, and good luck to you!! :-)

Thanks! I'll be careful about that.I use a little background music to cover all the vocal artifacts like breathing or swallow..they are annoying , there is a reason for that, maybe it was to loud.

@@viocaia Thank you for your great reply! :-) Maybe I can be of some minor help, I have worked as, among other, sound technicians on a radio station. If you find you are making mouth-noise do you maybe have to increase the distance between you and the microphone. To compensate for that, can it be necessary to increase the recording level. :-)

@@friedmule5403 I will, you know that sweet spot, to keep the lows in the voice but avoid plosives and esses, I don.t like to use noise gate or compression, the narative is fade anyway, but I.ll do a better wind shild to my mics..thanks for advice.😀

Mine seems to measure pretty close in relations to my volt meter in peak voltages mode. Rather then the default peak to peak mode. If anyone can elaborate how volt meters should read it? VPP VP RMS?
@viocaia
@viocaia 3 жыл бұрын
depends of the needs..for me , measuring the audio power amplifiers RMS is what I need, but working with SMPS you need Vpp, or at the end simply V in DC..of course for the money ..is doing the job..

I just came across your channel, good stuff. I know absolutely nothing about oscilloscopes, but I picked up this exact same model to use for setting amplifier gains in car audio. I could never get my probe to compensate correctly. I'm including a link to a short video, I was hoping maybe you had a little insight you could share. I'm only ever measuring 40 or 1000hz, and it seems to do fine, but I kind of feel like I bought this so I could be precise, if I can fix this, I'd like to. Thanks in advance! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pMVdiZx_0pzOoYU.html

I believe it's faulty..try another probe, or simply add a 10Mohm resistor in series and try calibrate on 10X..
