Agnieszka Karasch's PhD thesis that published in 2023 is the monograph Reciprocal Drawing - a method of collaborative drawing which she has developed as artistic research at Aalto University in Helsinki (FIN).
In her DTP Online talk, artist Agnieszka Karasch briefly presented the main performance-based strategies of collaboration applied in drawing and then delved into the complexities of Reciprocal Drawing: the formal ways in which Reciprocal Drawing developed between the performers and the complex relational aspects which the practice highlighted. Inspired by rich documentation of performances and drawings, the participants engaged in a conversation about issues such as conflict, resistance, play, processuality, ethics of touch, postconsensual collaboration, and their impact on drawn marks and lives in general.
Agnieszka Karasch is a performance artist, researcher, and movement analyst. Her large, life-size drawings base on her body’s geometry, its actions and gestures.
Existing as independent works, they also serve as diagrams for her Reciprocal Drawing - a method of collaborative drawing that she has developed in PhD thesis as artistic research at Aalto University in Helsinki. It assumes two performers' continuous direct contact on the paper plane. The method draws from Laban Movement Analysis but also from Tehching Hsieh’s, Steve Paxton’s, Trisha Brown’s or Fluxus tradition, to name a few.
Reciprocal Drawing has been described in Agnieszka’s book Reciprocal Drawing. Bodies’ Co-dependance and Direct Contact in Drawing, published by Aalto ARTS Books in 2023.

DTP Online is a program by Draw to Perform which includes a studio visit to artists that relate to contemporary drawing, performative drawing, and live art. These online events are giving the audience an opportunity to get a closer look at the work of key artists in the genre. They also give the audience a chance to observe the artist's creative process and their choice of materials and techniques as the work progresses.
At the beginning of each meeting, the visiting artist gives a live performance or presentation in their own private workplace. The focus lies not only on performance art, but also on those who use drawing as their main medium of work.
This online program gives a chance to connect more and collectively brainstorm ideas on drawing, art and performing, as the audience is invited to ask the artists direct questions.
