DTS Sonic Landscape 1.85:1 "flat" [35mm] 4K

Sorry it's been a minute since the last upload. A hectic time of the year.
DTS "Sonic Landscape" flat aspect, full frame scan with not one but two groovy ATLAB countdowns in varying levels of print exposure for some reason. This was used at a cinema I worked at. I think the second countdown was just slug to make it back to the platter.

I love a good 35mm to digital transfer. There's something nice about seeing the film with all the scratches and hairs yet it still looks really crisp.

dts has had the best 35mm sound in the 90ies, by far. SDDS to me sounded too metallic. DD too many artifacts. DTS was superclean. Really liked that.

I know this debuted on the Bone Collector, this is also on the DVD of said film, and seen on the first 3 Die Hards, Casper and Babe, is this also seen on An American Tail and Flintstones Viva Rock Vegas as well? Or do those releases use the Digital Experience logo, or no DTS logo at all?

Most of the leader is to verify either printing or projection quality. If I had to guess, it might be part of a system self check of the optical track printer, in most of the modern films it would be an Arrilaser.

Isn't DTS sound not on CD ?

DTS sound is on CD. In the vast majority of cases the film print also carries an analog backup which is what you are listening to here.

Ah, thanks. So it is in analog Stereo available. Is it decoded in Dolby Stereo?

@@andreash.7927 the audio for these scans is recovered digitally with software and is essentially "raw" There is no noise reduction applied as it would be if run through a Dolby processor. You should still be able to recover the surround information however. I believe you can use a Pro Logic processor if you do not have access to a cinema one.

All film recorded on dts fornat has a companion disc containing a sound recorded on dts disc

It's quite funny that this DTS trailers sound is taken from the analog Dolby A back up track without Dolby Noise reduction. The REAL DTS digital (from the CD rom) sounds many times better than the Dolby encoded back up track. No distortion. I know a number of cinemas of the day that played the analog track prior to the main film to fool the public they did have a DTS decoder. The same could be said of Dolby Digital.

Absolutely correct, the scanner I built does not scan at real time so the analog soundtrack is recovered digitally from the still frameset. I could have overlayed a digital rip but where's the fun in that ;)
