Robert Emmet was executed in 1803 after trying to start an uprising against the British. He served as an inspiration for some who were a part of the Easter Rising of 1916.

Irish man here. Not a Dub, but been to Dublin about a million times - nobody likes the Spire lol, or understands wtf it is/why they chose it over a statue or something.

No it was the united kingdom of great britain and ireland,whereas now its the United kingdom and Northern Ireland.

That’s completely wrong. It was the other way around. Great Britain refers to the island consisting of England, Scotland and Wales. The United Kingdom referred to England, Scotland Wales and Ireland. That’s why it is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
