In the US employers are paid to hire asylum seekers. Is there something like that in Ireland? We can't get our government (left or right) to change the asylum laws either. Maybe we could get them to end the incentives to hire them.

I heard an Orwellian statement on this very channel by a lawyer (no surprise). It went unchallenged which is disappointing as I could watch the BBC for that kind of journalism It was this corrupt word salad "the protesters had been radicalised by lies because the perp was not an immigrant. He's been an Irish citizen for 20 years" Why don't educated people know what words mean, anymore? Unless being in a country for more than 19 years means you were born there.

BS. The riots affected the whole city, people couldnt get any public transport whatsoever, shops looted, trams and busses burnt out...... of course this is what we're going to be talking about so it doesn't happen again. The people that were stabbed are in hospital and the person responsible is in custody, what more is there to discuss? Really like what can we do to stop a freak stabbing event like that. There is nothing to talk about on the matter. It's being dealt with. GB news looking for conspiracy for clicks again and stop talking utter BS.

I know, and the thing is there's virtually no right wing element in Irish politics. The political class in this country has imported all this nonsense from the US - now anyone with reasonable and justifiable complaints about taking uncapped numbers IPP and refugees at the expense of Irish people who have to suffer an already completely failed healthcare and housing system. It's clear that there will be a major swing to the right soon though, there's a lot of nutcases who will capitalise on the anger in Ireland right now, the government refuses to address what 90+% of the public want and looks at them with contempt instead pushing through crazy orwellian "socially progressive" policies that nobody asked for. It's going to happen across the EU I reckon, the elections in May will see right-wing parties dominate and there'll be major reform on immigration and freedom of movement. Honestly I think the UK could have led this reform had they stayed in, Brexit seems to me to have been a backlash to similar issues, you got there first though because Blair began letting millions in earlier than the rest of Europe. Ultimately the smarter move would've been to reform the EU instead of walking away, membership is too valuable in the grand scheme of things.

There’s a very big far right in Ireland - many video channels, stirring up hatred, fear and anger exploiting young vulnerable people leading them to severe paranoia and mental illness and dependency on drugs, legal or illegal. Just watch the trumpers being interviewed in the US. It’s serious - dangerous hyperbole and catastrophe. The right wing media took the opportunity to bring the young vulnerable men on to the streets to progress their own agenda.

@@taintabird23 The Algerian national who is the main suspect in the horrific school stabbing that saw three children and a carer injured was arrested earlier this year for possession of a knife, the Irish Daily Mail has reported. The paper reported that the man “had come to Garda attention several times in the past year” and that he had been taken to court on charges but not convicted “due to a mental health report” that was produced in court. The Irish Mirror reports that: “He appeared in Dublin District Court at the city’s CCJ in May. The judge in the case heard all the evidence, but made no order. That means the suspect was not convicted of any offence. A no-order decision is usually made when a judge rules that there was a significant mental health aspect to the case.” The Algerian suspect is believed to have been living in hostel accommodation provided by Dublin City Council. He is also believed to have come to Ireland almost two decades ago, and have taken Irish citizenship a decade ago.

Plus a strong and proud Celtic culture known and appreciated throughout the world. Oscar Wilde said "On St Patrick's Day only half who celebrate are Irish. The other half just wish they were". They had a civil war, a rebellion to gain independence only 100 years ago. With a population of 5 million they are rightfully concerned about losing their cultural and religious identity. And so they should be. They have a PM not a Celt but of Indian ancestry who wants to see a multi cultural Ireland by any means, allowing thousands in from third world countries undocumented and unchecked and will continue to do so. Because his Protestant police officer father was murdered by cowardly republicans?

When I think of the far right, I may think of Hitler's mighty Wehrmacht about to invade some small defenceless country in Europe followed up by cruel and evil people of the SS, but certainly not ordinary people of European countries who just want to see some semblance of their own racial identity in their own native land. As someone might well quip, anyone to the right of Trotsky or the BBC must be far right.

So, with that being the indisputable reality, why would anyone be slightly surprised that the current Irish PM, Leo Varadkar, who is not a Celt - therefore, he can have no allegiance to the county’s culture - would condemn the rioters who rose up in anger to defend their country, and culture, from being recolonised by mass non-Anglo/Celtic interlopers. I don’t live in Ireland, but I’ve to Dublin and nearby regions on three occasions, the last was time was in 2010. On that occasion, I noticed a few East Asiatics hanging about, and some Subcontinents. However, in those 4 days in March, 2010 I did not see ONE person who appeared to be Muslim. At best, the non-white component of Dublin was, at best, 2 percent. Well, according to a You Tube clip I saw yesterday; it claimed that, “in the 11 years up until December 2022, nearly one million people had arrived in Ireland” - again, that’s what the commentator said. He also said that “property prices had more than doubled, but wages had only risen 60 percent.” He also said that, in the new housing estates “at least 70 percent of their residents are immigrants from non-European societies.” Here in Australia’s two largest cities of Sydney and Melbourne, the large intakes of immigrants (both permanent and temporary) from non-White societies has been so huge that White folks are now the collective minorities of both cities: being about 47-48 percent. Here in Australia’s 5 major cities, as it is in Dublin, the majority of people who move into these new estates on the outskirts of these cities are non-white immigrants: mainly Indians in all cases. But the direst aspect for the future of Sydney, prevails with what is deemed the Third City. It is destined to snake up 20kms north, from the emerging second airport at Badgerys Creek, in the southwestern region, to Penrith. What the governments aren’t saying about this is that it’s destined to become a Multi-Function Polis [MFP]. Essentially, a rendition of Silicon Valley focusing on IT and high-tech, along with manufacturing pharmaceuticals. But a big part of the capital to initiate these ventures will be from India. @@seanquinn2476That's not the issue, you need to pay better attention. An illegal immigrant came into the country, and stabbed 3 school children and 2 adults outside a school. The police LET THEM IN, gave them housing and more, and weren't able to prevent it. And their reaction was slow. It got out into the news and the public. The police said it was a 'irish person' and refused to talk about the fact they're an illegal immigrant. It got leaked, and the public became aware the police and government LIED to their faces. People rioted mad that they got lied to, and that innocent children were stabbed, because of ireland trust. Then irelands government + police blame the protesters as 'right wing' and 'facists' and 'EDL'... which is incorrect, only small factions are. So British Media asks irish media/government, and gets their lying responses, so goes with it and lies to the british public too. That's why they're so upset. Children were stabbed, their government has lied, and foreign governments are running with the lies, and the irish government and police are refusing to apologize or take the blame for any of this or the stabbings. So... in protests.. you fight counter-protestors, push past police, destroy and loot. It's all to send a message and start a conflict and gain attention.

Drew Harris is the most unpopular Garda Commissioner in Irish history. Over 90% of the Garda Representative Association demanded his resignation recently and he ignored them. Also, the immigrant knife attack is not an isolated incident. This week also saw the sentencing of murderer Jozeph Puska who stabbed a young Irish primary school teacher in the neck 11 times. The Irish are angry with Drew Harris, Helen McEntee and Leo Varadkar. All three of them refuse to take any responsibility for what their reckless immigration policies have caused. They have opened our borders to murderers and don't seem to realise that the calibre of people they welcome to our country will have an impact on our society. As an immigrant to the US not from the "peaceful" nations, I can tell you if you want your country you cannot just let all the trash into your country, I live in american by their rules and in turn provide services based on my skills and avail of the the opportunities provided here. If one day America/UK/Aus think they can build their countries of the next 100 years by using Syrian, Morrocan or Pakistani migrants well then what you are seeing is what you get!

Taking into consideration that, there wasn’t one occasion during the 14-year Reign of Terror, between March 11, 2004, and then in London in 2005, and then with the Bataclan or Niece, culminating with 40 separate attacks, and 530 ruthlessly slaughtered by insane Islamic fundamentalists did the media or politicians, on one single occasion unconditionally Islam/Muslims for those heinous crimes. And, worst of all, nearly everyone living and working in the Third City will be an Indian.

The practical aspect of immigration is that initially (at least) EACH IMMIGRANT comes WITH a PRICE TAG. Who pays this price? The people do. And depending on the geographical size of a country and its available resources, funds, and employment opportunities there should be a ceiling (where more people crowding in become a liability). *EACH COUNTRY SHOULD RECOGNIZE ITS SATURATION POINT.*

Thank you for this. I feel like I’m living in a parallel universe with the way the news over here are reporting this story. The news yesterday was that a vigil was being held at the GPO by workers to show solidarity against the rioting in Dublin,. Not a single mention of the attempted murder of 3 5 year old girls and their carer outside their school. God knows how this situation would have went if passers by didn’t intervene when they did. This same street, had seen attacks and muggings on adults left and right recently, Garda presence around that area, even the morning after the attack, was minimal to non existent. This whole far right nonsense also, not one person cares whether those children were Irish, African, Chinese, etc, they were kids stabbed by a 50 + year old man on our streets, attacks like this just can’t be accepted. Charles Parnell, who that street is named after, would be turning in his grave at what this country has become.
