After the moves 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 d5 4.Nc3, many years ago, everyone used to think the best way to equalize is with Be7. The solid move led to some great games starting from the Capablanca, Alekhine era. However, Black players quickly realize that it could be a good idea to use your dark squared bishop more actively and develop it on b4. After Bb4, we are in Ragozin territory. This video will prove to an excellent guide to learn some ideas in the Ragozin Defence. After all Dubov is one of the most creatively inclined GMs of the modern era.

Found it: En passant is a move in chess. It is a special pawn capture that can only occur immediately after a pawn makes a move of two squares from its starting square, and it could have been captured by an enemy pawn had it advanced only one square

Is called "en passant", when a pawn moves 2 cases and end up with an enemy pawn on his side the enemy can capture as you saw. It kind of a simulation of the fact that the pawn used the case under control of the enemy pawn during the movement. You can capture en passant only immediately after the pawn's move. @JacksSpas
@JacksSpas 3 жыл бұрын
It's not really the same thing. You see Dubov knocked down the rook by accident and fixed it before pressing the clock like you're supposed to do. If you knock a piece by accident you should pick it up before pressing the clock. In the clip you're referring to Hikaru pressed the clock and then while coming back with his arm knocked down a piece. His opponent tried to call the judge on that but it was nonsense cause Hikaru dropped the piece after pressing the clock so he did not break any rule and it was impossible for him to do otherwise.

That's en passant. When a pawn moves 2 square up besides opponents pawn then you can capture it diagonally.

It is called en passant. It happens when our pawn is on rank 5 for white, rank 4 for black and the opponent moves the pawn beside it 2 squares ahead to avoid being captured, u could still capture it with en passant, but it need to be done right after the pawn 2 squares ahead move
