Hello Missenden, like you i'm an 899 devotee, i liked your expression Garage Queen. I bought my 899 about same time as you - it has 10,500km on the odo. It's a good touring bike, the riding position doesn't bother me. I installed the throttle spacers, and my favourite motorbike mechanic Ethan Meyer, fabricated a removable luggage rack which is sized to hold a Kriega 30 bag + battery charger connection and USD outlet for mobile phone connection for Google Maps - so i don't get lost in the hillsa along the Laos border. For me, It's a great bike.

I put just over 600 miles on my 899 in my first year of ownership and I also plan to keep the bike. So far all I've done is change the oil and filter and all the dot 4 brake and clutch fluid. All I'm looking at now is a single seat conversion and a new 899 decal that is peeling and that's it.

Brilliant! Just picked up a brand new 2018 959 Panigale, and I'm anticipating the same kind of life for mine as yours. And yes, I said brand new 2018, in 2020. It was a leftover. Seems as soon as the V2 and V4 came out, having the previous variant was out of fashion. Well that's fine with me, as I got it for 62% of it's original retail price. Dealer finally needed to just move it. Be that as it may, I love your garage and your passion for lovely bikes.

It is a thing of absolute beauty. I rode a 999 in Brighton, the first in the country, a test ride by my late mate Robbie (MCN reviewer), I felt like the King of the universe, even when I stalled it on the seafront on bikers day with hoi-poloi bikes everywhere. My advice:Get a sports bike with cruise control and ditch adventure bikes for ever.

Great bike TMF, some bikes grab your heart and are keepers for sure!. When you have a passion for bikes the 'depreciation ' affect isn't relevant...in good condition bikes reach a plateau of value and if your lucky become classics! Nice update, lovely bike, I can completely understand why you will keep it, it's costing very little and it's totally different to anything else in the garage. So that for me makes it a toss up between the GS and the Street Triple to be moved on, with the GS probably favourite to go.

You've been naughty here, kind Sir, " I've never had the chance to ride it in the wet yet..."... as far as I know your area is just as wet as Bristol area, or a tad bit drier but definitely have enough rain for you to play around with the puddles;))) But yes, deffo don't do it with new tyres though when it has been made for dry surfaces. I took my 0mile '08 Tenere home from the dealer when the decent rain hit, and I was sliding all over the place in corners even at low, 30-40mph speeds. They were the Metzler tyres, I think that was the standard for the XTZ Ten back i the day. Haha, I should definitely not complain about the wear of my rear tyre on the Super 10... I am changing it after 8500+miles after all year round use. Enjoy the rides!

Nice to see the Pani get an outing TMF. I noticed you still have the OEM foot pegs. I found them extremely slippy personally on my 1199 - they were changed for the 1299/959 models to much grippier versions. Oberon do a good aftermarket alternative - I'd recommend them as another cheap, effective modification for you!

Yet another very informative video TMF. Re road tax would have to disagree re losing the remainder when selling on. I recently sold one of my bikes. Registered on gov website to that affect and within a week i received confirmation that I was no longer the registered keeper and a refund of remaining road tax. I always pay one off for tax as with a few bikes, you save a few quid.

Hi TMF, she's a real beauty at some point would love to add maybe an 899, or slightly older 916/996 to the garage. Would love to see how you get on with a tour on this bike regards comfort on longer mileage. Thought the go-pro footage was fine 👍 Thanks TMF.

Bit of a “fish eye” look with the GoPro sir. You can tune much of that out in settings by going to narrow view I believe. A large number of Panigale’s end up being “garage queens”, their just made for track or short canyon carving stints....I know as I have one myself. And why not if you can afford it and have alternative motorcycles? Good information and informative video.

Gorgeous!! Thanks for the update on the Duc!! Have you tried the Q3+ Sport Max tires from Dunlop? I replaced the Corsa 2 on my 765 Street Triple and like them way more. I don’t know if they cost a premium in the U.K. but in the US I think they are the best road going sport tire made at the moment. Brilliant!!
@TheMissendenFlyer5 жыл бұрын
No I haven't Ron but thanks for the recommendation!
@rontrose5 жыл бұрын
TheMissendenFlyer For sure. Like I said I really don’t think them any better than the corsa 2. Those are properly great tires but the Dunlop’s are equally as great and they are less money and last longer. I myself, like you, am not as concerned about long life. I’ll take grip any day and the Dunlop’s are not a compromise at all. The really surprised me. They also have a W rating so you are good to go for the occasional track day. Thanks again for all the informative videos!!
