Let's replace the alternator in a car: 1. Get the jacks under it 2. Well I guess the exhaust is in the way so let's take that out. 3. Have to go back to the store to pick up gaskets. 4. Let me lay on the ground while I spit the rust and mud out of my face that's falling off the exhaust as I take it out 5. Unbolt the alternator 6. Crush one of the electrical terminals by accident and have to reterminate it 7. New alternator goes in smooth 8. Grunt the exhaust back into place for 45 minutes. Let's replace the alternator on a Honda motorcycle: 1. Delicately twist the 5mm Allen until she's naked 2. Oh look there's the alternator

@@ABCABC-sq5db the very reason I don't touch cars. I took my jaguar x type to a service station and I was talking to the manager up front but one of the mechanics was overhearing. I had to have the accessory belt replaced amongst other shit. Mechanic: what does he want? Manager: accessory belt Mec: what car? Man: 04 jaguar x type Mec: ah, fuck. If you're taking that in you're changing the bloody belt! You see, to get to the belt you need to take out the suspension on the right side. I kid you not!

This mod certainly had a use, well it does for torque monster v twins like the 950 and 990 ktm LC8. They have a habit of loosening the clutch booster boots and then the heads can spin through the clutch cover and leak all your oil. A clear clutch cover especially in poly carbonate, allows the bolt more room to spin out and allows you to spot check. Problem is now I want the clear cover on my new bikes

Avoid crossthreading by hand turning the screw BACKWARDS until you feel the first thread click into place. Then start hand tightening.

This is. Ery interesting as I have never seen inside a wet clutch before. i expected to see a lot more oil making its presence known. It show me the clutch plates are not drenched in oil and are not doing as much as I would have guessed to cool the clutch plates. Amazing to see what is really going on inside the engine. Thanks for this post!

HI does the oil makes the transparent circular window dirt after the first use so you cannot see the clutch any more? Or after the engine shut off became clear again? Thanks.

It would have been nice if you have explained why this is THE Ducati mode .. Where it came from, the visible clutch, The old Ducati's bikes with the dry cluches, and also they where visible, not just for looks, it's for better cooling .. and so now that newer Ducatis got wet clutches, because of noice regulations, they kinda tryed to keep the look .. Is there a Dry clutch conversion Kit for the V2 ? (like v4 have)

To save cross threading turn the screw anti-clockwise wise until you feel a click them turn the screw clockwise.

Hi papa Yamms, could I put the panigale v2 clear cover on my sv650s? They are both v2 and with a wet clutch. Please tell me if it is possible pops. Because if it is, I got a japanese baby v2 panigale. I am also putting a aftermarket lcd speedometer on it from speedpark. I need your wise advice about the clutch cover, amen

IF you re-use the O-ring (just get a new one, O-rings are cheap, don't risk a leak), do not use those picks, or a screw driver to get them out. You can "squeeze" big O-rings out. Just use 2 finger, start like a 3 inches apart, and with a little force pushing on the O-ring, bring you fingers together, until the O-ring pops up. Might take a few times, but that way you don't nick the old O-ring. I can almost guarantee that O-ring is gonna leak sooner or later

I have noticed that I would need to buy a clutch housing in order to do so, and I was wondering if the Clutch Housing 243.3.127.4A from Ducati would fit in my 899... Yes you can definitely do that. The clear cover just replaces the OEM one and you can reuse the OEM screws too.

If you have no other option i guess you can get the bearing out the way you did it. I will say though, that if possible you NEVER want to hammer on the inner race of a bearing, if you need to use the inner bearing you want a steady pull action. Hammering it out brings the potential to make dents and marks in the race, leading to rumbling and eventual bearing failure.

As you align the clutch plates be very careful installing them they can't be off by a quarter inch or you won't fix the issue. You have to align them perfectly. Good luck sorry for late response hope this helps.
