@@TROdesigns I'll buy that, brother. That CBR600 made me a better racer, and I suppose at one point I would have wanted even more power. But for my second and third year of racing it was ideal. Such a beautful feeling of whacking it open for that long arc across the desert. I don't think I braked into 9; just sat up for the air brake (I'm 6'4"). No, I never got bigger than that 600; racing was over after falling victim to a FRAM oil filter blowing off a bike up ahead in 8. Happy trails.

Hell, in 1982 I was wide open halfway down 6, topped out through 7, topped all of 8, and ran way wide till the edge of the track. Rolled off to 3/4 throttle to let the front take a bit more bite and pull into 9, then WFO way before you apex 9 as you want the rear suspension bound up so you don't bottom out. Then get it straight and keep your head down and watch the big bikes motor by. What this guy is doing is a walk in the park compared to what we had. We bottomed out our forks on turns 1 and 3, causing big skid marks with the front wheels. Front brakes turned into marshmallows after two laps. Squeeze too hard and they will just lock up. A great lap time was 1:36. That was the old track.

I was probably on the track with you. I was doing consistant 1:35's on a gs500e. on the big big you almost have to hit the gas earlier out of 5, and short shift up as you crest 6, or blip the throttle off ( is what I did on my litre bike). i was pinned going into 8. I always tell people "there is a straightaway between 8-9, find it"
