Very interesting matey. Love the riding comparison at the beginning 😎😎. Finish is a really worry and I've heard similar stories.

Thanks for the honest review 👍🏻 do you still have any interest in the Ducati 848 ? I have a 13 848EVO 140HP & 70 lbs of torque. I find it very exciting throughout the rev range

You’re welcome mate, I’m glad you enjoyed. Yes still very much interested in the 848 but have to admit to also being swayed over to the 1198 too ☺️ I know I should probably go with the 848 but the 1198s model keeps flirting with me and showing me all it’s nice shiny bits 🤣 your evo sounds perfect though to be honest 😃

For sure, I need to try a 1198 and see if it’s worth the extra money. Trying to find a dealership local to me that has one for sale and being able to take it out for a ride is proving to be difficult though.. it won’t get rode until next spring so no real hurry though. No worries for the reply mate, I’m always happy to chat 🙂👍

I’ve done the opposite, traded my 2011 gen 1 in for the 1299s......for me it was the best decision, the Ducati is awesome, fits me better, much more comfortable and the sense of occasion is much more, puts a bigger smile on my face that’s for sure. Bmw is easier to ride and smoother at lower speeds, but I didn’t like the high redline, was always short shifting and felt like when you were up there it was warp factor fook me! 11,500rpm is more what I’m used to. Mine has the akras so sounds phenomenal.

I like when people I watch change bikes, but don’t change Taffy 😁 The power and money reasons is why I still have a zx9r as my main bike. It’s cheap, faster than me and all day comfy. Take care man, stay safe over winter 👍👍

Ha I could never change Taffy!!! Your a wise man indeed mate! I will try and buy something that does the same thing for me as it does for you but I’m not very good at making decisions when it comes to bikes ☺️ Thanks I’ll do my best, you too! 😎👍

Sixth Gear Motorcycles haha it doesn’t stop me wanting a 2004/2005 zx10 tho, just because it’s 10 instead of 9. And it looks pretty groovy and a bit more modern. I’ve always really had Kawasaki’s as my main bike and just picked up a 96 zx7r but every time I repair one bit I find another problem 😩 still it keeps me busy over winter 👍

on my ducati 1098 i can ride 100km on open road in 3th gear all the time, no single gear shift, and no one can catch me after corner exit...simply press gas and you sprint like cheetah. This is fantastic. Because of engine problems think to buy 1299 or s1000rr...but i love this torque so much, I m 45y old and shifting boring me...duc looks fantastic...but how is reliability between two?

Both gorgeous bikes and great in their own respect. Despite my love for the V4 ,I'd probably opt for the BMW in that category. It just has that edge,the great German eye for perfection and a design philosophy that's superior and meant to last. But like yeah dude,fuck what people think. Find the bike that suits you and makes you happy and contempt!

Thought you were getting rid of the S1000RR..?
@TheJmebe
@TheJmebe 5 жыл бұрын
.. Ahh! Commented too early ;) I got rid of my '15 S1000RR and got a zx7r. It is lovely. Don't miss loads of power at all. It's weird. Got myself a few bike mags from around 2001 where they were testing the zx7r and even then it was considered to be way behind the likes of the gsx-r750 in power and weight - because it was! But I'm not racing people on the road. It doesn't matter one bit if my quarter mile drag times are a second or so behind. Who actually cares! I like the ownership experience of older stuff because they do behave differently if you've been nice to them. As in the little maintenence jobs. I don't stroke it. Much. Carb balancing. Very easy to do, but it makes the engine run smoother. Starting it can be a challenge cold/hot starts. Flooding the engine. It's all part of feeling part of the experience. Feels good. The S1000RR was an amazing bit of kit. For all the reasons you've said, it was too much. So easy to ride with no actual skill. With the TC, ABS and throttle response all set, I could whack open the throttle pretty much anywhere with no thought/consideration. I ended up going jail sentence speeds without really understanding what was going on. I both frightened myself and was left a bit cold all at the same time. Given the choice, and because I'm not super skilled, I'd have TC and ABS on all bikes, however what I have, finally, realised, is that power does not bring pleasure. My theory is that for normal riders, it actually reduces the enjoyment: crazy speed, brake like mad, tip into corner, get it upright ASAP, gun it. On the zx7r I'm riding the straights more slowly and going around the corners a bit quicker, and a whole lot smoother. When you consider how fast even the likes of 500cc twins can accelerate, you're still out accelerating very very quick cars. Do I need to out drag a Veyron - no!
@SixthGearMotorcycles
@SixthGearMotorcycles 5 жыл бұрын
I hear you mate, totally! I had loads of older type bikes, the old Fireblades, gsxr’s, zx7r too and like you used to do all the fettling, balancing the carbs etc You definitely have a stronger relationship with your bike for sure. I guess I’ve gone through a process of searching and trying out bigger and so called better bikes even though I know the older stuff is great. I moved up onto 1000cc sports bikes and hayabusa’s and zx12r’s and started getting drawn into the game of buying the most powerful bike etc Buying these two bikes the 1299 and 1000rr has taught me that the power/numbers game being played by the manufacturers is kinda pointless as you can’t use the power on the road. I’ve loved the journey but like you know I can have just as much fun on much smaller stuff 😉 ride safe mate 😎👍
