I get a lot of comments about Ducati V2 vs Yamaha R6 and people can't decide which one they should buy. So in this video, I go into the positive and negative aspects of both and give you my unbiased opinion about the V2 vs R6 debate. Enjoy!

I have a v2, so I may be a bit biased. So far the v2 has exceeded my expectations. This includes handling, electronics, ergonomics. Also the exotic factor makes the v2 quite special.

I test rode the V2 in late October, and I went with the 2020 R6 because the Yamaha was more comfortable! I’m 6’3” and the side fairings on the V2 were digging into my legs the whole ride. I had a 2012 R6 and I remember how comfortable that bike was, I’m very happy with my choice. I’m waiting for my ECU to come back any day now!

I have owned both bikes. Previously owned a 2014 R6 and now own a 2022 V2. They very different bikes for sure and both provide very different riding experiences. The v2 is most certainly the most aggressive and is actually very agile in comparison to its bigger brother the V4. It is the most "practical" road / street sportbike. I enjoyed the R6 but its no comparison to the V2.

The first negative point you made about r6 not having the latest electronic aids or non at all for the older models is actually a plus point for some!

(Sorry, this is a long comment.) I've been thinking about this for a little while, getting one of them this spring or summer. I'm really leaning towards a V2 now for a few reasons. I will be able to get a new V2 at a local dealer. There are no new or used R6s near me now and of course there still won't be any new ones in a few months. I like that the V2 comes with a quick shifter, I like that it is (supposedly) a bit more street oriented, the electronics are a plus for me, it's exotic and beautiful (I also really like the 17+ R6 looks), and after watching a ton of videos, even the sound is growing on me. Every review I've seen and read has loved the V2. And heck, I just like the idea of owning a Ducati / beautiful exotic italian bike. Plus the 996 was my dream bike as a kid. But all that said, I still like the sound and lighter weight of the R6 so if a nice, blue 2018-20 R6 comes up near me at a good price at the right time I still might jump on it. But I think I've been bitten by the Ducati bug. :)

If you've never owned a Ducati before, go for it! its a special feeling but once the novelty wears off (and its only natural that it will), try something like an R6 if you can find one.. Its a surgeons scalpel but not 100% perfect or complete as I mentioned in my video. The good news is that its like a blank canvas ready for you to make it your own as I have. 👍

@@PetroHead Just wanted to update and say that I got a V2. :) It was delivered today. I'm coming from a Duke 390 so it will take some getting used the sport bike ergonomics / body position, and dang it sure does get hot. But I'm really happy with it. So far only in street mode, low power, and under 6k rpm for break in but that's plenty for me for now haha.

@@johnsnow2022 I love it. :) I've never ridden an R6 so can't compare, but believe I made the right choice. Some random thoughts: The V2 doesn't have that sweet inline 4 scream but still sounds great. I like the quick shifter. The electronics may have saved me once or twice. It makes me smile every time I see it in the garage. I got a heat shield kit and different riding pants so the heat is not much of an issue, it's even nice when it's cool out. Less weight would be nice in parking lots, driveways, and stop & go traffic. I don't like how expensive the Akropovic exhaust is. Putting it in sport mode and setting the sag/preload made it even better. I'm very happy with it. In fact, I'm going to ride it now.😁

It’s hard to compare the V2 to a R6 since it’s between the R6 and R1. It’s for sure Bette than an R6 in every way, but not quite as good as the R1. The only thing the V2 lacks is a fuel gauge which should have been there since it’s focused more for street riding.

I have RnineT and tried the R6 from my friend and made me like the sportbile instantaneously. It’s so nimble and agile and very fast. So I bought a Ducati Panigale V2. Never look back. Beautiful bike, love it!

With all the electronic safety tech and comfort (I felt that the V2 is less aggressive to sit on for myself, 5ft10). I would choose the V2 unless you wanted a specific track bike

Good choice! R6 is track focused. V2 is street focused as their primary uses.

Was exactly my bikes to choose from And yes ..yess ..yess hard choice But finally i got a black R6 2020 with full Akrapovic exhaust Gp titanium quick shifter up shift ,and i think was the best decision in my life i absolutely love this bike ..everything is how is need to be . And yes i have seen the both bikes in person V2 looks amazing also and electronics is top class but the sound of the R6 took my heart ❤

No comparison- V2 over R6. There’s a reason why they sold over 400k units, price tag and insurance for 1st time riders. I think a better comparison would be R6 vs. 675R

I chose a V2 and have no desire to get rid of it for anything, but some day I may add an R6 to the collection just for that sweet sound.

I rode a 2018 R6 and im 5,5ft. Its not comfortable. The V2 is lower and better with 5,5

I owned 2 R6s the 2017 matte black one and the 2018 matte grey one. Sold the first one due to my financial situation back in late 2018 and bought back the grey one in early 2020. And I just picked up my brand new V2 from dealership last weekend. First, these are 2 different bikes, they have different engine capacities, different appearances and most of all, different price tags. Second, V2 has better electronics with a beautiful TFT panel, whereas R6 doesn’t have much with an ugly old school R1 styled screen. Third, v2 has better low end torque which really makes it easier in riding compares to R6 in daily commutes. BUT, the R6 is better in following ways - first, the price tag, which is half of the V2. Second, the service costs, the insurance costs, the parts and accessories costs, for instance, a whole Akrapovic Titanium slip on exhaust is about 300 bucks for R6 and that’s just the price for a black out ring on the stock exhaust of V2. Third, R6 has been slightly increasing the price in used markets since it’s discontinued.

So if you happen to have 20k in pocket and don’t know where to spend, please go for R6, that’ll cover your bike, service, parts and insurances. If you do have 30k in pocket and want to buy either R6 or V2, then go for V2. You can’t beat the smooth quick shifter, and safety electronics, the beautiful TFT screen, the sexy single side swing arm AND the look!

Is that La Jolla beach? Yeah man R6 all day. You get a great bike for the money. I wouldn’t ride mine on the street often as I have a naked bike for that. Mainly track and some spirited street riding. Good video!

Ive owned a 2017 R6 ,I do miss the sound of an inline 4 every now and then. I do miss the sexy front of the R6, lights and fairing, the race blue... but Currently bought a V2, the electronics, rider settings and looks are top notch. Stock seat is much comfy, not having back issues vs an R6 is a plus. The stock exhaust is loud.

When comparing the (just 30hp difference) the V2 raches it 3000 rpm lower than the R6, and the V2 has plenty of pull from low rpm at any gear plus the power delivery is smooth

which is more aggressive riding position the ducati 916, 996? or the yamaha r6? i used to ride a 916 back in the days, and havent riden a sports bike since 2003 after i massively crashed the 916. now i am looking for a sports bike i really dont know what to get. first the v2, but budget is way off, my choice right now was the zx6r. compatibly with the r6 and the 916 are they both the same in riding position?

thank you. I don't like the dashboard on r6. it looks outdated. they could do it both on r3 or r1. The ducati doesn't like its sound at low revs - like a bucket of bolts, and I think it's about to break

One thing I didn’t like about my 959 was the short gears. V2 is same. I love that my R6 feels like it’s going up forever until I have to change again.

Love the looks and electronics on the V2 but had to get the R6 since it’s being discontinued. Had to experience the legendary R6 for myself.

@@PetroHead yes, same color as yours. Got it the day after they announced it was discontinued. Wanted to get it before it got harder to find. Even used were hard to find locally. Most places were out that I tried but one local place had one in their warehouse. Zero miles. Loves the vids! Keep them coming.

Inline-4 will always sound better than a 2 banger. Just my opinion of course.

@@PetroHead love that the i4 on the R6 screams all the way to 16k rpm 🤤 but the v2 looks so sexy too and it’s a way cheaper option than the v4. Hard to make a choice between these 2 even after watching..

@@PetroHead yes 2017-2019 is the last generation of CBR, a small superbike that is easy to use on street, the 2020 model is more focused on track riding.

Depends on where you live. In the U.S. we say "gas" but I like calling it "Petro" 😁

Oh ok, I’m from Oregon so I call it gas but have heard other countries call it petrol, so wasn’t sure if you were forgetting the “L” at the end. I tried googling petro but couldn’t verify what you were referring to which is why I asked. 😬 but anyways, awesome bike! Already got over $1000 worth of parts for mine, just have to wait for it to get here from Japan 😞

PetrolHead was taken.. so I use the Spanish word for gas ‘Petro’ and I actually like the sound of it better.. rolls off the tongue easier.
