Ducato stopped unexpectedly? ➡️ Restart the Fuel Cut-off Inertia-Switch

This may be the most important thing you could prepare for before your big trip out yonder!
In my case the left front wheel mounted the 150mm kerb slowly as I made a U-turn. Apparently this bump caused the inertia fuel cut switch to kick in slowly - the dashboard warnings, the hazard lights did not activate, and the engine did not stall until about a full two minutes later.
And even more strange; I was able to restart the engine and drive another two minutes before the same thing happened.
But I was able to restart the engine a second time and make it home. So home was 3km from the spot I went up the kerb.

Many thanks for your video Afram, you are the hero of the day. Got stuck this afternoon in a viaduct in Porto after a big pothole. Waiting 4 hours for someone to pull us away. Before they arrived I found the button (the manual was not clear to me, your video was!) Keep on the good work! 🫶🏼👏

Thank you so much for sharing this info. We are in a couple of weeks to be travelling around in EU for an early summer vacation. Having seen this I know what is going on when the symptoms have presented themselves, and I realize I must carry an OBD reader with me in the car. Great, and this proves to me we are stronger together than acting alone.

We had this frightening experience yesterday in the rain on a highway bypass due to flooded roads. We hit a massive pothole and completely lost power as you described. We were lucky to get off the road but only just. There is no mention of this switch that we could find in the handbook. We had to google it...lucky we had service. Couldn't locate it but luckily(for us) a Fiat pulled up behind us. It had hit same pothole and had same issue. Fortunately the driver knew where it was and got us on the road again.

Oh gosh that was scary, and not one but two Ducatos downed! Was your switch located in a similar position to the video here? If not, kindly let us know where it is. Thanks. This is useful info for Ducato owners.

@@VanHacks yes it is in the same position. But it took me a while to find it. Curiously the message on dash said to check manual for fuel cut off with - not under F for fuel but under E for Electrical Power switch and fuse cut off !! I am spreading the word to fellow Fiat owners I know. Thanks

Hi - Do you gave the fault code for the fuel cut off? I bought an OBD II reader as suggested - thank you - but the instructions don't show that as any of the listed codes. Thanks and much appreciate your channel!!

Hi great video. I have a 2011 Ducati 160 multi jet that has just had a clutch replacement. Drove 30 kms and parked up. No further travel. Upon trying to start vehicle the amber car with padlock symbol came on. Engine turns over but won’t fire. Any help would be great. Thanks Barry

Heres a good tip, i have hidden my O B D socket, and replaced it with a dummy, that is still connected to 12 volts, so the key cloners cant understand why there is no can, its easy to do. lol.
